CHOLESTEROL & RISKS
Risks for having high cholesterol include
1)-having a diet high in animal fat
2)-getting no exercise.

One of the biggest risks associated with increased LDL cholesterol is the risk of Arteriosclerosis. Arteriosclerosis is defined as the hardening and thickening of the walls of the arterioles (Miller-Keen, 1999). Arteriols supply oxygenated blood to all the vital organs such as the brain and the heart. Arteriosclerosis occurs without many warning signs.

There are two types of problems associated with this disease. One is the problem of developing a clot (thrombus) on the surface of the plaque that has been building up on the inside of the arteries, the other is bleeding which may occure any where the plaque has built up, this is known as a hemorrhage.

When vessels supplying the heart are blocked parts  of the heart dies off and the result is a Myocardial Infaraction (MI), commonly kown as a Heart Attack. When the vessels supplying the brain are blocked a Strock occurs.

Heart Attacks and Strokes cause serious disabilities and often even death. According to the American Heart Association people with a Cholesterol level higher than 240mg/dl are twice as likely to have a heart attack as those with 200mg/dl.
