UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS
Lebanese Bacc Students:
Students holding the official Lebanese Baccalaureate degree (or its equivalent) are eligible for admission to AUST. Candidates are required to pass the AUST English Entrance Exam (EEE) and other exams which may be required such as Math I and II Placement Tests. Candidates are also required to take the appropriate remedial courses as determined by their performance on the EEE and Placement Tests.
Lebanese BT3 Students:
Pursuant to Decree no. 1936 dated 8/6/1965 and attached to resolution no. 69/2002 dated 1/7/2002, issued by the Ministry of Education, students holding the Technical Baccalaureate certificate are eligible for admission to AUST. However, such students have to enroll in the field of specialization that is defined to them by the Lebanese Ministry of Education.
Freshman Students:
All Lebanese and non-Lebanese applicants to the freshman class who pursued their education on the basis of a foreign non-Lebanese program must fulfill the following conditions prior to their admission to the freshman class:
1. Hold a secondary school certificate or diploma based on 12 years of schooling, beginning with the elementary one class. The certificate or diploma must be awarded by governments or recognized private schools.
2. Obtain “permission” from the Lebanese Equivalence Committee of the Lebanese Ministry of Higher Education allowing them to pursue their higher education on the basis of foreign (non-Lebanese) program. This permission may be obtained by applicants who can prove evidence of having lived and studied in a foreign country for a minimum of 2 years of secondary education, or a minimum of 3 years for elementary education.
3. Take the required SAT reason of test (critical reading, mathematical, and writing) and the SAT II (subject tests) prior to their admission to the freshman class.
Foreign Students:
Candidates holding any of the following certificates may be admitted to AUST at the sophomore level:
The French Baccalaureate
International Baccalaureate (IB) with 6 subjects (3 at higher level and 3 at subsidiary level)
The German Abitur
The Italian Maturita
General Certificate of Science and Education (GCSE) with 5 different subjects (3 at ordinary level and 2 at advanced level) excluding Arabic. AUST does not recognize advanced supplementary subjects.
CEGEP II (College d’Enseignement General et Professionel)
All Arab official secondary certificates
All the above certificates must be duly equated by the Lebanese Ministry of Education.
Transfer Students:
Candidates transferring from recognized institutions of higher education to AUST are subject to the following conditions:
Must have met similar admission requirements to those of AUST in their previous institutions.
Must submit an official transcript of record duly certified by the Lebanese Ministry of Education.
Under certain circumstances, the student may be required to sit for AUST entrance exams.
Transfer applicants may be given transfer credits for courses in which they have obtained a grade of “C” (70%) or better, on condition that these courses are judged by the academic units concerned as courses that meet AUST degree requirements.
Note: Irrespective of the number of courses/credits transferred, the applicant must complete all general and departmental graduation requirements at AUST to qualify for any degree from AUST (60% of total credits may be transferred. 40% must be completed at AUST). |
