Other Arts . .
|
Since my childhood, I have always been interested in the martial arts.
Much of my interest probably stemmed from my wanting to be a ninja at heart.
On this page, these are three other styles that interested me.
Technically, during my training in Taekwondo at the school near my home, I also learned a smidgen of Hapkido.

Rather, Hapkido was simply integrated into our required self-defense techniques.
Since then, I have always had a fondness for Hapkido and its Japanese counterpart, Aikido.
I developed a liking for rolls and falls, locks and throws, and all around neat self-defense techniques.
After arriving at Yale, I began studying Wing Chun.
Initially, my older brother had shown me some techniques and I liked the variety of using my hands for once.
During my time in Taekwondo in high school, I practiced what he had taught me on my heavy bag at home.
Then, I formally trained for a year pretty devotedly at school.

Unlike the previous two arts, I have actually received no formal training in Capoeira.
I really only developed a fancy for the style after learning to breakdance a bit.
I suppose I really just have an interest in martial art acrobatics so Wushu or Drunken Style are also hella' cool.
Most likely, it's probably that I just wish I could do those kind of cool things. :-)
