Marie cannot remember a time when she has not been there. She has seen it all…the rise and fall of civilizations, the wars that spill men's blood, the good and evil that the human race has inside them. And through it all, she has remained who she is. An intelligent watcher and thinker, Marie has been a strong leader to her clan. She is a strong businesswoman in her own right and through the ages has bought many companies. Like Canio DiNerezza, Marie has her hands in everything.

She was embraced by Magnus, first childe of Caine, though his true name is much more ancient, when she was a beautiful young woman in her prime. The only daughter of the King of her clan, Eurynome, as she was once called, was spirited away by Magnus from the only life she had ever known so that he could share his new existence with an equal and...a wife in the fabled city of Enoch. She had no choice in the matter, but quickly embraced what she had become. Together she and Magnus created a family in their own image. Magnus did it simply because he could and it amused him, while Marie did it to have a family to look after. She is fiercely protective of her family and to wrong any member other clan is to harm Marie herself and that is something that few have lived through after doing so. Marie will do everything in her power to make sure that everyone she loves is well protected and that includes hardening her heart when necessary. It also means making deadly bargains that have taken away the power she once had, and keeping secrets that could destroy her.

She remains very close to all the members of her family especially her adopted daughter, Gabriella. Her relationship with Adam has not renewed, partly for his new fascination with her newest childe Jordan and partly becuase after a few millenia you get tired with one another.  She still loves him very much and when the dust settles on the Final days she plans to be at his side.  Zane is her most trusted confidant for he is truly her eyes and ears to the outside world though she does have a fondness for Konstantin 'her dark angel', one she hopes to continue.

There is only one mistress in Marie's house and that is she for there is no master. Though, at one time it was rumored that Marie shared an affair with one of the Forty, the Watchers a few years back. For some years she and Bronic Macnessa shared a forbidden love that could only end in heartache. When he left before the plague hit, so did part of her self. And with it, that solemn vow that there would never be a man at her side to rule.  Now the position of consort is open and with that decree a slew of haughty men that plan on overthrowing the Lapis Queen and stealing her power for themselves.

Due to her former relationship with Bronic Macnessa, and the fondness for her daughter Jordanna and those she cared about, Marie has no quarrels with the Forty.  They have never seemed to be interested in her before. But she has become wary of them after they killed her daughter by birth, Enya with their schemes.  And with the knowledge of the Triumvirate and Jordanna's part in it, the scrutiny from the Immortals has increased.

For a long time she had remained in the shadows, enjoying the quiet life she has chosen for herself and family. She was quite content in watching instead of participating though from time to time she would emerge either to throw one of her famous parties or to catch up so to speak. That time has come to an end.
