Much of his human life he has forgotten except for his human mother.  He was born in Puerto Rico to a two-parent household that quickly became a one-parent household after Joaquin beat his Father severely to keep him away from his mother.  At that age he was not only very protective, but also very jealous, of anyone who garnered more affection from his Mother than himself, since she was the only family that he has known.Beyond that he remembers little else except his Embrace by Marie Priscus, who now holds the title of Mother and Queen for him.

Isolated and deadly, Joaquin is prone to staying in sparsely populated areas, or within the family.  Most vampires never even see him unless there is a conflict, war, or some danger to the Priscus Clan.  Most vampires, beyond his family, never want to see him.
