Personal History of Agent by Martin Greenspan

Agent Malcolm Bishop was found in a local orphanage by Arnand Jacobs. The child seemed to be the perfect specimen on which to attempt the new research. We found the child to be blind and over 90% deaf. Because of poor birthing conditions the child also sustained brain damage. He was left on the steps of the institution when only a few days old. Parents were never discovered.

Mr. Jacobs brought the boy to us when he was about seven years old. Showed signs of malnutrition and neglect but no abuse, per se. Because of deafness, he was unable to speak. Also, severe social retardation because of lack of proper education and care.

We began our treatment of the child immediately. Gene therapy and DNA manipulation was the first of many procedures. The results were more than we could have hoped for. Malcolm, as we now called him, had an increase in I.Q. within weeks. We then began to repair his vision and hearing with cybernetic enhancements. Mr.Arnand insisted that we increase his attributes in these areas far beyond normal human range. Surgery to replace and modify damaged and atrophied muscle was also begun.

When the initial procedures were complete, private tutorials were started to bring him up to normal levels. His instructors were amazed at the speed with which Malcolm progressed. He proved to be a bright student with a knack for computers and history. During all this time Mr. Jacobs visited the boy weekly and an obvious bond was forming.

Into his late teen years, Malcolm needed several minor operations for his continued growth but when he entered his early twenties the most major of his treatments were done. The years of research served us well since the technology vastly increased during the wait.

Malcolm has over a dozen separate biological and cybernetic enhancements (see list-next page) but the final assessment is this: He can see in complete darkness and magnify his vision by three. His skin has been altered to provide protection. He feels almost no pain. His strength is that of 4-5 strong men. Synaptic acceleration causes him to be unnaturally fast. His bones are reinforced with a plastic alloy to prevent their being broken. There are others but these are the primary bodily differences that make Malcolm Bishop a
little more than human.

After receiving his degree in American History and Computer Science, Malcolm was then placed in the training programs for which he was created. Firearms, Demolitions, Martial Arts and advanced Computer skills were taught and learned. During all this Mr. Jacobs remained in close contact with the young man.

When it was felt that he was ready, Mr. Jacobs himself revealed to the young Malcolm the reason that all these things had been done. That monsters walked the earth. He revealed the existence of vampires, demons, werewolves and other creatures of the night. Malcolm, because of his perfect trust in Arnand, took it as gospel truth and asked how he could help rid the planet of these abominations.

Because of his wide influence with government officials, Jacobs had Malcolm instated as an agent with many official offices. The FBI, CIA, ATF and the NSC all have Malcolm Bishop on the roles as an official agent, as well as being an acting U.S. Marshall. With his many clearances, Malcolm has been investigating cases where supernatural forces are thought to be in play. If this is the case, he acts swiftly and eliminates the root of the problem.

With the recent plague in Los Angeles, Malcolm has returned to the headquarters of The Fourty to assist in keeping the peace and innocent casualties to a minimum.

I continue to see Malcolm as his primary caregiver. He has matured well and is fitting into society better than many had thought possible given his start in life. I do wish, however, that he would begin a social life of sorts. He is shy with women but is making headway. He spoke to me recently of his sadness that a certain Watcher in L.A. had been Embraced. I imagined he spoke of Jordan Deveraux. It seems that Malcolm became quite infatuated with her as he investigated recent activities there. He of course declined to take my advice and at least ask for a dinner date. He said that they should remain "professional associates".

And what he lacks socially, he more than makes up for during work. He is a cunning combatant with the vampires and because of his modifications is better able to deal with them than many of the other operatives. And in keeping with Arnand's policy, Malcolm eliminates only those he is told to or those who pose a serious threat to humanity.

I look forward to watching as Malcolm continues to work with The Fourty here in New York. I feel a little safer knowing he is on our side and on the streets.........
