San Jose October 15, 2001
My hometown. There's just something special about seeing them in your own city, although
I generally have better luck finding them NOT in my area. I got a hotel room where I
guessed they would be staying (guessed wrong) even though I only live 10 minutes away. lol
It was nice to not have to go back and forth to home all day though.

Around noon Debi and I decided to make a pass by the *other* hotel where they might be staying and sure enough there were 3 tour buses parked in front, so we parked and waited in the lobby. A while later we saw some girls jetting out to the front of the hotel, so we followed, and there was Nick standing in front of his bus with about 2 dozen fans. He was wearing the Goonies shirt again, I hope he washes that thing. lol Of course Debi and I got as close as possible trying to get in for a pic or autograph or something. Unfortunately we had no luck because he got in his bus about 30 seconds after we got there, but at least I had the sense to take a pic of his FACE this time. lol I had a gift for Nick that I didn't quite get to him before he got in the bus,
but I asked his bus driver if he could bring it to him, and he was actually really nice about it and brought it in to Nick. He very easily could have been a jerk, but he wasn't and that made me happy. We watched them
load up Nick's bus -- a guitar and a duffle bag went inside and the rest of the bags went under the bus.
I'm such a dork, I took a pic of his luggage. lol And his license plate, which actually came in handy later.
*grin* We also saw Brian (from a distance) and AJ (up close) get in their buses and drive off.
Neither one of them stopped for the fans like Nick did. Sarah was with AJ, Bri was alone.
It was kinda cool because Amanda (not AJ's ex Amanda lol) was waiting at the venue so on the phone
I told her the order that the boys were arriving. lol Tag team BSB hunting.

San Jose was the coolest in terms of the "gang" --
I swear everyone was here, Amanda, Micki, Debi, Bobbi, J, Heidi... all of my BSB friends in one place!
I'm so glad I got to spend time with everyone, that made it even more special.

Now on with the show... I had 8th row center, RIGHT in the center, directly under the freaking bridge. OMG I was soooo nervous it was funny. I brought silly string to nail Nick, and I got him. I actually got AJ first and he looked at me like "what the hell did I do to you?" lol And then I waited for Nick, couldn't see a damn thing cuz the bridge was right over me. But then I saw the blonde hair peek over the rail and I got him. He looked down at me and gave me the "bring it on" hands -- omg I just about died. I was ready to throw
the can to him when the arena security people took my can away. *pout* Oh well, mission accomplished anyway. What was really funny was that one of my students told me the next day that she saw someone
get Nick with the silly string, and I was like "that was MEEE!!!" And they even mentioned it in
that god-awful concert review from the SF Chronicle.(just read it today for the first time, made me sick)

Hmmmm, what else about the concert... it's all a blur! Sheesh, and it was only one week ago! 8th row was AMAZING, I'd never been so close. Now I'm spoiled. I took tons of pics, 7 rolls, and never had a problem with the camera nazis, not a single problem with them all week actually. Just hid the film in my bra and the camera in my pants when they wouldn't allow bags in, but never had a problem taking pics.
I swear in SJ I got tons of "fantasy" shots -- lots of Nick stripping off his clothes and laying on the ground.
OMG at one point, after the Bye Bye Bye thing, Nick fell on the ground and just laid there
and the camera zoomed in on his crotch, big as life on the huge screen. lmao
I had enough time to take a hysterical pic, the lighting pole is in a very, um, interesting postition to say the least. And when Nick was doing his intro, he saw a sign in the crowd that said "Nick shake your ass."
He read it and said, "shake my WHAT??? ... ok" and then he proceeded to do a booty dance.
Dear lord he knows how to hurt me. Not quick enough with the camera that time though. lol

I honestly can't remember much else about that particular show besides it was great being that close. Some cute moments with AJ and a rubber chicken and Nick and a muppet on stage (Animal, not Kermit lol)... Nick actually SANG "don't wanna hear you saaaaay" in IWITW (he only did that twice last week)... a lot of stuff that caught me off guard in SB was the same in SJ, like the wigs for Everybody and the Bye Bye Bye dance. Ummm, I think that's it, that's all I can remember at least! lol
