Background is a map of the valley, created as a three-dimensional computer rendering using actual digital elevation map (DEM) data from the United States Geological Survey. Deep sculptured asymmetrical border contains concise history of Silicon Valley from the foundation of Stanford University in 1891 to the current year and calendar for the year 2002.
