Hello!
My name is Nina Khashchina and I am graphic designer with print and web
based experience.
I started my career working with vector graphics software such as Corel
Draw and Adobe Illustrator in 1992 for Design Studio Z where I created
layouts for newspapers and printed publicity materials using QuarkXPress
and PageMaker, Corel Trace and Adobe PhotoShop.
In 1994 I was hired by Auto-Energy and became a part of a team which led
the firm from small automotive-part business to wholesale company with
distributor net all over Ukraine and dealership contracts with large European
and American Companies such as UNOCAL 76, Tenneco Automotive, and Castrol
Europe.
My responsibilities included executing corporate identity guidelines and
standards, organizing and developing local advertising campaigns, originating
the various promotional materials (such as booklets, magazine advertising,
greeting cards and flyers) and designing exposition stands for different
local and international automobile shows. These experiences taught me
a lot about marketing and advertising. But I realized that I liked graphic
design side of my work most of all. So when I came to the United States
in 1998 I decided to continue this career and improve my skills in graphic
and web design fields.
Continuing to work as a freelance graphic designer I learned HTML, and
web design tools - Macromedia Dreamweaver, Flash and Adobe web design
applications.
In 1999 I joined Positive Line Group (New York) - one of America's largest
suppliers of promotional and educational products. It specializes in the
production of health, wellness and safety promotional materials from conception
to mailing. Creative department is involved in almost all stages - from
designing an item to creating a direct mail package.
My responsibilities as a member of creative team included designing various
promotional materials (brochures, catalogues, flyers, order forms and
carrier envelopes), creating products, image optimization and modification,
logo creations, illustrations, pre-press production and photo supervision.
In March 2000 I moved to Silicon Valley, California to engage in new opportunities.
Here I became a part of a team supporting and renewing complex database-driven
web application.
When the time came, I moved on and joined advertising and publishing agency
in San Jose where I worked on both print- and web-based projects including:
www.biotechchronology.com
www.mbjassociates.com
design and production of the 48-page monthly publication (ECHO Journal)
design and production of the poster size maps and calendars of Silicon
Valley
chronology calendars for biotechnology and telecommunications industries
development and support of brochure design and corporate identity for
College of Business San Jose State University and various growing local
and international companies
various web and multimedia projects
Please, feel free to contact
me if you have any questions or comments.
