occupational
therapy. rancho
los amigos national rehabilitation center. downey, ca. Boy,
what a learning experience! Working at Rancho taught me the
value of time management, flexibility, having a sense of humor, and
how to be a team player. I had the chance to manage my own
caseload of patients, learn new techniques and skills, become an
advocate for my patients, and have a good time doing it all.
Although I worked on the Adult Brain Injury Service, I had the
opportunity to see a variety of different diagnoses including
Traumatic Brain Injuries, Strokes, and Spinal Cord Injuries. I
also met a lot of cool people including the 6 other interns I hung
out with at lunch, the therapists on Team C, and of course, the
patients. The 12 weeks spent at Rancho also allowed me to
practice my Spanish speaking abilities. I don't know how many
times I asked, "tienes dolor?" (do you have pain?")
and "mas mejor!" ("much better!"). I had a
great time. Check out some of the photos from my summer at
"The Ranch".
