Look Who's Barking

When grisly murders start occuring around town Phoebe's first impulse is to think Cole is responsible. In fact, the Charmed Ones are about to have their first encounter with a Banshee. In the Charmed Universe a Banshee is a demon who hones in on those with emotional pain and kills them with her piercing shrieks. They can create new Banshees from witches in emotional pain. Phoebe is still suffering because of losing Cole and is an easy target. Prue meanwhile spends much of the episode as a tracking dog: Prujo.

When Leo warns her that once Phoebe has taken a life she will be a Banshee forever, Piper summons Cole/Belthazor. She figures that he can retrieve Phoebe by convincing her that he still loves her. However the plan goes awry when Banshee Phoebe picks up on Cole's own pain and tries to kill him! Cole gets the upper hand in the ensuing battle but is unable to kill her because of his love and tells her so. Phoebe is restored to her normal self. Cole says he cannot get over her and tries to explain his killing of Jenna (see Exit Strategy) by saying that Raynor had put a spell on him. Then he shimmers away.

Later at P3 Phoebe tells Piper she made a mistake giving up on Cole, that there's still good in him, and she thinks she can bring him back.
