1553AD TO 1558AD



?????? = The quire of St. Pauls began to go about the steeple singing with lights, after the old custom.
1553AD = The day before her Coronation, she witnessed a Dutchman standing upon the weather cock of the Steeple of St. Pauls, waving a five yard streamer.
?????? =Savoy Hospital, she reendowed and refurnished it.
?????? = TOWER OF LONDON; held court in the tower and showed her Romish resolves. Her sister Princess Elizabeth was imprisoned here on suspicion of favouring Sir Thomas Wyat�s designs. She was compelled to enter at the Traitors Gate.
?????? =TOWER OF LONDON; Princess Elizabeth was at her home at Ashridge, in Hertfordshire when she was taken by Mary. Her route was; Redborne, St. Alban�s, South Mimms, Highgate, Whitehall, then the Tower.
1553AD =TOWER OF LONDON; John Dudley, Earl of Warwick, tried and condemned for trying to deprive Mary of the Crown. He died in his prison room.
1553AD =John Dudley, Duke of Northumberland was beheaded in the Tower.
1553AD =At the Attainder of John Dudley, the priory of St. Bartholomew was in the hands of Q. Mary.
1553AD =Sept. 27th; Mary Tudor rode from the Tower to Westminster in a Chariot of cloth of Tissue, drawn by horses trapped with the same; and Temple Bar was then �newly painted and hanged.�
1553AD =Sept. 28th;Mary Tudor crowned Queen at Wesminster.
1554AD =TOWER OF LONDON; Robert Dudley, 3rd son of John Dudley, Duke of Northumberland, was arraigned in Guildhall for High Treason, and condemned to be hanged, drawn, and quartered.
?????? =Aug; Queen Mary and her newly-wedded consort, Phylip of Spain, removed from Windsor(where he had been installed a Knight of the Garter), to Richmond; and some of the State Papers show that she was here at other times.
1554AD =(Quote) 1st and 2nd Phillip and Mary. "Mr. Chamberlain shall commit the custody of the new gates at Temple Bar to the Citties tenants, dwelling nigh unto the said gates; taking, nevertheless, especial order with them for the shutting and opening the same gates at convenient hours."
?????? =Convent of Grey Friars at Greenwich restored by Mary.
1555AD = Robert Dudley and his two brothers were liberated by order of Queen Mary.
1556AD = This time some part of the Tower fell from decay; the remainder was destroyed in 1556a.d.
1557AD = Ann of cleves Died.
?????? = Philip and Mary kept Xmas at Hampton Court, when the large hall was illuminated with 1000 lamps. It was from here that passports, signed by Q. Mary, but not filled up, were in readiness to be sent off to announce the birth of a son or daughter, when she fancied herself with child.
?????? =Q. Mary granted the Manor of the Priory of St. Bartholomew to Thomas Lord Wentworth.
