-=Love's Lament=-
As beautiful + beguiling as the garland that crowned her hair
so rank + sickening the stench of her rotting bones,
potruding from her grave after each unholy visitation.
Worn out + bedraggled, my hands dirty and bleeding
how often have I picked up these remains..
Yet my lord + accomplice in her murder, returns..
fascinated by her death, rummaging through her casket,
in search of a truth that can never be found in a cemetary.
Looking for answers a corpse can no longer supply
as if disturbing her peace could restore our own.
Sobbing wildly I gather up what he scattered around
replace the coins on her eyes: My Great Love + His Great Love,
now sounding as hollow as the sockets they fill.
I failed to keep her safe + well, in life as in death,
in guarding her burial chamber.. my kiss farewell.
