THIRD PART CONTINUED
11) The Spirit of Gravity
-Zarathustra implies that he appears as a devil
          > cloven foot
-is not understood by academics and the educated
          >speaks not to academics, but to the people in general
     -likens himself to an eagle
          >defies gravity by flying high
          >feasts on innocent things
          >Zarathustra is happy enough to sing his bird song to himself
*doesnt need to be heard by a crowd
-learn to be light and not burdened by gravity
          >know how to love oneself
          >gravity being taking life too seriously
-using and teaching the concepts of good and evil is a grave thing
          >taking on these concepts as a burden
          >burdens children early on
-omni satisfaction: finding everything in this world as good
          >Zarathustra does not like this
*prefers those who are choosy and have learned to say no
               *dont learn to like everything
-everyone has their own way to live
          >there is no one best way
12)Old and New Tablets
1)good and evil have long been known to man
2)Zarathustra: good and evil does not exist until a person creates it for himself
3)Zarathustra is saying to forget the Ten Commandments and decide for yourself what is
       good and bad
4)man is something that must be overcome
           >directly says that this is where he came up with the term overman
     5)do not skip over man
           >overCOME man
6)dont want to achieve anything, much less the overman, for free
           >dont ant it to be easy
7)want to have to work for life
8)people often sacrifice themselves for their gods and beliefs
9)good and evil is an illusion
           >perpetuated by soothsayers and stargazers
           >they believe that life is predetermined
           >there is no knowledge of good and evil because all current knowledge is based on the             illusion created by preachers
10)robbing and stealing are taught as evil
           >but it happens all the time in the world
          >to preach against robbing and stealing is to preach against the nature of the world
11)people abandon the past as they reinvent it to suit the purposes of the ruling power
         >in reinventing the past, people forget what came before an individuals memory  (like
           USSR)
         >the noble person is needed to counteract the reinventing actions of the rabble
12)whatever has a price has little value
          >if you can purchase something, then it is not worth a lot
*as opposed to striving and working for it
               *purchasing equals the easy road
         >your individual value is not based on your family or from where you came
*bust is instead based on the continual progress you make
        >love the future that you are striving for
*not the immutable past that you rest your laurels on  (but wasnt he just speaking on
the evils of reinventing the past?  what does reinventing the past matter if you are                       basing your value on your future achievements?)
          >make up for the past and actions of the fathers by the future and by properly instructing             your children on how to handle things
13)Religion does not practice what it preaches
           >it says that all of life is vanity, yet indulges in life itself
14)just because there is a lot of negative things in the world does not mean that the whole                 world is bad
           >having bad things means that there is something to overcome and strive to defeat
     15)criticizes defeating violence through non-action
     16) to gain knowledge is a joy
           >you must learn how to learn
17)either get involved with life and make use of it or get out of the way (pass away/die)
18)do not drag people towards their goal
           >if they choose not to pursue it, dont penalize, but let them be
19)for greater souls, there are more parasites
           >the more chances one takes, and delves the deepest, the more likely one is to have more              parasites
     20)do everything more so
           >either ascend better and faster
           >or fall farther and faster
