FIRST PART CONTINUED
16)The Friend
-must be able to respect and compete with a friend
-in a friend, one should have ones best enemy
-friends should be sources of inspiration and goals and achievement
         >your own achievements should push and encourage your friend to do the same
         >ultimately, to achieve the overman
-friends cannot dominate each other nor be dominated by each other
17)The Thousand and One Goals
-good and evil are different to different people
-what is often called good and praiseworthy seems difficult to people
          >it is praiseworthy because it is difficult
          >it is good because it is indispensable
          >the deepest need/the most difficult to attain is holy
-man creates his own good and evil for himself
          >by creating what is good and labeling all difficult things as such (good)
          >the opposite or lack of good equals evil
-to place value on things is to create
         >to place value/to create is the most valued thing
*a thing is most valued because it is created, not because it is difficult to attain
-the delight in the herd is more ancient than the delight in the ego
         >good conscience is typified by the herd
         >bad conscience is typified by the ego/I
     -humanity has no goal
          >each individual person has a goal, but not as a collective group
          >if the collective group does not have a goal, then is the collective group/humanity lacking?
18)Love of the Neighbor
-your love of your neighbor is an escape from yourself
          >to focus on someone other than yourself
-you would only be good/worthy if another loved you as their neighbor
-love not the neighbor, but the friend
19)The Way of the Creator
-create your own virtue, morals and life
-dont give in to the envy and contempt of others who would decry your independence
-have faith in yourself to lead you on your own way
           >as opposed to following the herd
-but, you have to make your own law, be your own judge and adhere to your own principles
20)The Adders Bite
-when someone does some bad to you:
          >do not rebuke them
          >accept his action as doing some good to you
          >rebuking him only shames him
-a gruesome sight is someone single-mindedly obsessed by a wrong
         >whether you have done the wrong or the wrong was done to you, it is a bad thing to focus on it and have
it consume your time and energy
-a wrong shared is half right
          >some of the evil done because of the wrong can be dispelled if both people acknowledge and accept the
            wrong
-a little revenge is more human than no revenge
-the punishment a person receives for a transgression is a right and an honor
-it is nobler to declare oneself wrong than insist on being right
          >especially when one is right
21)Child and Marriage
-being entitled to wish for/have a child, you must be a self-conqueror and master your virtues
          >merely desiring a child based out of some animal-instinct does not make you entitled
-having a child means reproducing something equal to or greater than yourself
          >create a creator
-a child is greater than the sum of the 2 parts of a marriage
22)Free Death
-there is a good and a bad time to die
         >you can die to early, at the right time or too late
-you die too early if you were not able to accomplish your goals
         >Jesus died too early
        >when you die fighting it may be the right time, but you squander a great soul
-you die on time (the best) if you consummate your life
        >if you consummate your life, you die victoriously
        >it comes when you want it
        >you should want it when you have achieved your goal and have an heir
-you die too late when you hang around after all has been accomplished
        >dont be a fruit rotting on the limb
        >as a fruit, cease living when you taste the best
        >die at the pinnacle of your life
23)The Gift-Giving Virtue
-there is a virtue in giving of yourself
-degeneration: when the gift-giving soul is lacking
         >a degenerate soul wants everything for itself
     -the gift-giving virtue is power
          >a dominant thought
          >and around this virtue is a wise soul
*which is made up of a golden sun and the serpent of knowledge(?)
     -remain faithful to the earth
-let the gift-giving virtue serve the meaning of the earth
-let your spirit and your virtue serve the sense of the earth
          >if you are a creator, then create new virtues for everything
-man and mans earth are unexhausted and undiscovered
     -doubt even your teachers
         >question them
     -do not blindly accept teachings
         >one repays a teacher badly if one always remains nothing but a pupil
-find yourselves and do not dedicate yourself to a thing
