OUR MISSION: to use Nilibre to advocate Chamorro national pride, dignity, and strength - and in our struggle for Chamorro self-determination - to advocate our belief that the political status of Free Association with the United States of America is truly the best of both worlds! Join us in discovering the identity and freedom of a People, too long colonized by other nations and why we say: Free the Land... Free the People! We believe Free Association might just be the answer. WHO ARE WE? We are advocates, activists, and patriots who love our homeland GUAM and who are proud to be Chamorro. We believe we need to come together to bring important changes to our current political status, our so-called territory OR possession of the United States OR "status quo" status... before we lose everything that makes us a People - from our lands, to our beliefs, to our language and culture, our very existence in our homeland GUAM. We come from all walks of life - some of us are teachers, professors, political leaders, ordinary people who work both in the private and public sectors or are self-employed. We are moms and dads and brothers and sisters, old ones and young ones. We volunteer our support, by any means necessary, to the Government of Guam's Task Force on Free Association under the Commission on Decolonization (COD), as the Task Force's efforts to promote Free Association through an organized and efficient organization is severly restricted because of the government's financial constraints. We felt we needed to create another means of communication, another group to promote Chamorro rights, Chamorro self-determination, and Free Association - separate from a government task force and its restrictions - to reach out to the thousands of Chamorros both in Guam and abroad anywhere in the world. As we share the pages in this website, please remember there are three political status options we will vote for in any upcoming plebiscite. They are: Independence (separate sovereignty) Free Association with the United States of America (shared sovereignty) Statehood (annexation to the U.S.) We will share with you in the next pages how it came that we have these three political status options to select. We firmly believe, however, that the political status of Free Association with the United States of America is the best of both worlds! Check out our "Words from FAS" page for messages from the Task Force. Join us in a new liberation! Let freedom reign! Fanhongge FAS! Nilibre! |
