SMACKDOWN REPORT

THE BIG NEWS: Brock will be at the PPV to watch the Big Show take on Kurt Angle, who won a match of the year caliber Fatal Four-Way elimination match to become the #1 contender.  Hopefully this leads to an Angle title run, or an angle to lead to a Brock Lesnar / Kurt Angle match at Wrestlemania.  Kurt was quickly killed by Big Show after the match to kill any confidence that I have of him winning.

OTHER NEWS: Albert took out Rey, leading to an Albert vs. Edge feud.  Does anyone want to see that?  Tazz helped Rikishi take out Vanilla Ice and...um...Vanilla Ice 2 after a lame rap contest.  Dawn Marie offered Torrie an opportunity to have the wedding called off is she went for a roll in the sheets with Dawn.  Torrie said "Of course, all beautiful women in wrestling are secretly lesbians and we all have sex with each other anyway!  Lets get Al in here for a threesome!"  Actually, she didn't say that, instead she acted weirded out but still went through with it.  Bill Demott turned heel and squashed Funaki.

MADE ME SMILE: Yes, Edge has been matched with Albert (Boo!) but that leaves Chris Benoit vs. Eddy Guerrero for the PPV.  And that will be just about as good a match as a person could hope for.

MADE ME FROWN: This isn't a true frown, as the thought of Dawn Marie and Torrie ravaging each other is certainly not unpleasant in the least.  Its just not a good wrestling angle and does nothing to help the WWE at a time where they really need to start helping themselves.

Porn is readily available, and they payoff in porn is actually hot girls having sex, not badly acted skits where they can't even be shown touching each other.

WWE should inspire me to write about their great angles leading to great PPV's, not stupid angles that go nowhere.

MADE ME THINK: There are many great matches on Smackdown.  However, Paul Heyman is putting better matches on TV than on the PPV.  There needs to be some balance....put those 45 minute 4 1/2 star matches on PPV too.

Stephanie telling us she gave her body to sign a wrestler gets who over exactly?

RESULTS:  Albert beat Rey Mysterio, Crash beat Jamie Noble, Bill Demott beat Funaki, Billy Kidman beat Chavo Guerrero in a Cruiserweight title match, Kurt Angle beat Edge, Chris Benoit & Eddy Guerrero to become the #1 contender.

GRADE: B - This show had arguably the best match of the year in the WWE, a great Chavo / Billy Kidman match and still gets only a B as it also had the dreaded return of HLA (given the last slot on the show, no less) and the push of Albert, as dead a character as I've ever seen.
