| Eurobasket 1989 Zagreb (Yugoslavia)
Many basketball fans doubted whether the greek national team could remain on top. In 1989 FIBA european championships, everybody waited for the european champs and the best european player to fail. But they were highly disappointed. The greek team won the silver medal, and Galis was for the third consecutive year the top scorer (35,6 ppg). In the semi final against USSR of Arvydas Sabonis, he scored 45 points and made Sabas say:"I have the feeling that when Galis wants to score, he will make it, whatever his opponent does. He's always determined to succeed". |
