"Teen girl charged in death by drugs"

An 18-year-old Pottsville girl has been charged with supplying drugs to the city teen-ager who was found dead by her mother Friday, authorities said.

Amber L. Blickley, 703 N. Centre St., faces charges of possession and delivery of a controlled substance for giving the drugs methadone and oxycodone to Nicole Tassone, 17. She was arrested Tuesday night.

A 20-year-old, Robert C. Davis, was arrested on related charges, accused of providing alcohol to the girls.

Tassone was found dead around 6:15 a.m. Friday in the bedroom of her 208 S. Second St. apartment, where she lived with her mother.

Police Chief Dale L. Repp said the charge against the teen is a felony under the Act 64, the Drug Device and Cosmetic Act.

An autopsy by Schuylkill County forensic pathologist Dr. Richard P. Bindie revealed the two drugs in Tassone's system, as well as third drug - Alprazolam.

A specialized toxicology test will reveal exactly what drugs and how much were ingested by Tassone, Repp said. "We should have those results next week and that will tell us exactly what caused this young woman's death."

All three are considered controlled substances, Repp said.

Several hours after Tassone was found, Repp said officers recovered a plastic bag from Blickley containing the three drugs, as well as several others yet unidentified.

According to the short affadavit of probable cause filed by Detectives Glenn Dove and Gene Tray, the teen supplied the drugs to Tassone on Thursday evening.

Blickley, Repp said, will be arraigned before District Justice James K. Reiley.

Methadone and oxycodone are synthetic opium drugs, the chief said. Methadone is primarily used as a rehabilitation drug by those addicted to heroin.

In connection with the case, police filed misdemeanor charges Davis for giving been to Tassone, Blickley and another person, all minors, Thursday evening at Tassone's home.

"There was a gathering of young people at Tassone's home," Repp said. "That is where we believe Davis supplied the beer and Blickley the drugs," he added.

Davis was charged with one count of corruption of minors, and three counts of furnishing alcohol to minors. He, too, will have to answer the charges before Reiley, Repp said.

The corruption of minors charge was filed directly due to the "events leading to the death of Tassone," Repp said.

Tassone's death is the first drug-related death of a school age student, in many years, Repp said. "This is the first incident that I can recall in recent memory," he said.
