A DREAM COME TRUE

PART 1 OF 2

Nikita was sitting out on her balcony watching the sun set. She once again had had to play Michael's wife. But there was something different on this mission. As they were lying in bed and Michael was all cuddled up to her back he whispered softly in her ear, "I love you, Nikita." She had only heard him tell her that one other time. And that was on the Armel mission. And it was said for the benefit of the camera. Or was it?

She honestly didn't know. Maybe he was changing.

She watched the sun slowly disappeared from the sky and was replaced by the moon. Followed by the brightest star that she had ever seen. She closed her eyes and began to speak.

"Star light, star bright. First star I see tonight. I wish I may. I wish I might. Have the wish I wish tonight."

That was one of the only children's sayings that her mother had ever taught her. She was usually too drunk or too involved to do anything else.

She then made her wish. Hoping and hoping that it would come true. She then opened her eyes and laughed out loud. "Nikita, you really are crazy.." She said to herself. "....that is never going to happen."

She walked back inside to sit down but she left the doors open. The light breeze that flowed in through the doors felt wonderful. She laid her head back on the arm of the couch and thought about what she had just wished for. She closed her eyes and the next thing she knew someone was knocking at the door. She jumped up so fast that she fell off the couch. When she did it woke her up fully. She did not even remember falling asleep. She looked at her watch and saw that it was 5 a.m.. Who in the world could be here at this time?

Then she realized the only person that would be coming over at that time was Michael. But she checked the peep hole just in case. When she looked out all she saw was a hand full of roses. Beautful white roses. She opened the door and expected to see Michael, but in walked a delivery man.

"Isn't it a little late to be delivering flowers? Or should I say a little early?" Nikita said.

"All I can say is that this guy came to my apartment that is above my florist shop. He gave me a fifty dollar tip if I brought them here right now."

"What was his name?"

"He did not tell me." the man said.

"Well what did he look like?"

"He gave me another fifty if I did not tell you."

"Well thank you for bringing them at this time of night." Then she reached for some money that she kept in the drawer. But the man held up his hand and politely said.

"He took care of that also. Have a good night." The man said and walked away.

Nikita sat the roses down on the counter and looked for a card. Hoping that it would be from Michael. She found one deep in the flowers. It really did not give her a clue as to who sent them. It simply said, "A rose for a rose. An eye for an eye. Payday is coming soon. I am always watching you so be careful." She then quickly threw them into the garbage.

Nikita dropped the little card. When she went to find it she could not see it anywhere. She went to bed only to hear another knock at the door. But this time before she opened it she grabbed her gun. She unlocked it and let the person in. She had her gun pointed at him when he walked in. But it did not bother him a bit.

"Am I interrupting something?" Michael said.

"I did not know who it was." Nikita explained.

"Well, do you usually meet company at the door with a gun?"

"What do you want Michael?" she said trying to get the subject off of her.

"We have a briefing in an hour."

"You could have called. You did not have to come over here." Nikita said waiting for him to answer.

"I did. I called you about six times. But there was a busy signal. I also called your cell phone with no answer. So I really had no choice. And I didn't mind anyway."

"Busy? That can't be. Oh well I will have it checked."

"You know that we do not allow people outside of Section to fix the phones. I will have someone come and fix it today. Bring your cell phone and we will have Walter check it out." Michael said.

"Well let me run and get some clothes on." She had been standing there talking to him in just a t-shirt and panties. She did not care that Michael saw her. It did not bother her. But it did something to him.

"Man, I need a cold shower." He said as she walk away.

He was looking around as he always did when he came to her apartment. He did it just to make himself feel better that Nikita house is secure. That was when he first noticed the roses in the garbage can. He looked at that for a minute before continuing his probe. Then he saw something sitting right under the edge of the couch. He walked over and picked it up to read it. He did not like what it said. Nikita was in danger. But she did not want him to know. She wanted to take care of it herself. But there was no way that he was going to sit aside and do nothing while she was being stalked. But he just would not let Nikita know. So he put the card in his pocket and turn in time to see Nikita walking out of her room wearing some jeans and a baby blue t-shirt. He pictured the sight of a few minutes ago. The sight of her walking away was very......rewarding. And as she walked out of the door he let his eyes slowly moved down to her bottom. She had a very subtle wiggle as she walked. He noticed that when she first came to Section. It was something that he had always liked. But she did not know that. And he would never tell her.

Once they were back at Section they split up. Michael went to Birkoff's station as Nikita went to Walter's. "Birkoff. I need you to do me favor. I want you to see if you can find a match to this handwriting." Michael said.

"Sure. Where did you get it?" Birkoff asked as he typed. He did not lift his head from the computer until Michael answered.

"Nikita's apartment. I will be back later to get the results."

Birkoff nodded and began to go through the data bases.

Meanwhile Nikita was over at Walter's telling him about the phone not ringing and asked if he could check it out.

"Sure. I'd do anything for you, Sugar." Walter said and earned a wink from her.

He opened it up and became a little pale. This was not a good thing. He looked up and saw Michael and told him to come over there. "You need to see this."

Michael walked over nervously to him. When he saw what was in the phone he cursed under his breath. Then looked up at Nikita.

"What is going on here? It is my phone and I want to know."

"Nikita when was the last time that the phone was out of your sight?" Michael asked.

"I always keep it with me when I go out. And when I am home I keep it in the drawer next to my bed."

"Damnit. That means they have been in the house." Walter said.

"Wait a minute. You are saying someone was in my apartment without me knowing. That is impossible." Then as she began to get a little agitated. "Well, WHO in the hell was in my apartment? And what in the hell is going on with my phone!!!"

"There is a bomb in it.A very small one. It would be a contained explosion only hurting the one that was using it. You had somehow hit it turning it off. If you would have been holding it when it rang. Then it would have killed you. "

"Well who in the world could have done that?" Nikita asked in a panic as she thought about the the note that she had recieved earlier. Why was this happening to her?

"I have Birkoff working on that. Don't worry. I will get it taken care of." Michael said.

Nikita smiled as he said 'I' instead of 'We' or something like that. He was always trying to protect her. And he always did have his job cut out for him. Because Nikita was always getting in trouble one way or another.

Then Michael walked away to see if Birkoff had found anything only to find out that the search, so far, had been unsuccessful. That he would run it again. The writing was not very common. You could tell that it took alot of time to do it so neatly. "Let me know if you find something."

Michael then went up to Madeline's office and when she invited him in he did not say a word. He just dropped the card on her desk.

"Who sent this and who received it?" Madeline said.

"We do not know who sent it. But Nikita was the one to receive it. And it is getting to her. We also found that her cell phone had a small bomb in it and I just got a call from the man that I sent to fix her home phone and he said that the line had been cut. Who ever it is doing it has been in her apartment."

"Let me know when you find something else out. Meanwhile, I do not want you to let her out of your sight. I will talk this over with Operations. And when we find out something we will take it from there."

"Alright. We will see you in briefing in ten minutes." Then he turned and walked out.

When everyone showed up at the briefing table Nikita sat by Michael and leaned her head on her hand as she listened to Operations talk. He was telling them about a new faction that was starting terrorists activities. And they need to be stopped before they got too powerful to stop. Everyone was to be taken out in the next meeting. It would be a fairly easy mission. All they had to do is blow up a few bad guys and come home. Easy enough.

Once on sight Nikita and Michael took there places as the rest of the team members did also. No one had run into any problems. They set the bombs and were heading a safe distance away. That was when they heard a voice come over the com set. He said,

"Are you watching what is going on. I am watching you. An eye for and eye, Nikita. An eye for and eye. " Then the voice was gone.

Michael quickly headed towards Nikita when he saw someone out of the corner of his eye. But before he could react he heard a gunshot. He dived over pushing her to the ground.

"Are you alright Nikita?" Michael asked as he laid upon her.

"I think so. Or I will be when you get off of me." Nikita lied but smiled making him think she was fine. She knew that she had been shot. But she could handle it herself. She was alright. Or so she thought.

Once the building was blown they went and checked for anyone that could have survived. There was no one. So they all headed back to the van. Nikita was the first one in and sat with her hands on her stomach. She did not let anyone see. Michael was the last one in the door.

"Birkoff.Did you see who that transmission came from?" But Birkoff shook his head.

"I can tell that it came from close by but there is no way to find out who it came from."

"Are you sure you are alright, Nikita?" Michael said as he turned his attention back to her.

"I'm fine." Nikita said. But the pain was starting to get worse and she was begining to get dizzy.

Michael saw something in front of Nikita on the floor and got up to look to see what it was. When he got over there he saw another drop fall. It was blood and it was coming from Nikita. He grabbed her hands so that he could see the wound. She wouldn't move them so he got such a tight grip on her wrists that he hurt her. So she finally gave in and let him look.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Michael asked with concern.

"It is not that bad. It is just a flesh wound. I will be alright." She said.

"Let me look." He said as he began to undo the top of her clothes. She always wore undershirts under her mission clothes. She wanted to be able to cool off after the missions. And she was not like that guys. She could not just strip from the waist up. So Michael was not worried about showing something that shouldn't be seen by anyone else but him.

The bullet entered right on her side. It was bleeding so bad because it had hit a vein. But the wound was not that bad. She would be alright once got back to Section and went to Medlab to get the bullet removed.

Until then they had to bring this bleeding under control. She was leaning forward and the bleeding was getting worse. So he got her by the shoulders and gently laid her down in his lap and put his hand over the wound. He reached and tore a piece of material off of her shirt. And pressed it to the wound. Before they knew it they were at Section.

As Michael thought, the wound was not serious. It was fixed and she was released within twenty-four hours. Which was just right for her. She hated Medlab.

Operations caught Michael as he was heading out of his office to get Birkoff to run a sim. Then he said, "I want you to go and look around for any clues that might be doing this keep an eye on Nikita. Because whoever this guy is he knows alot about Section. And he has to be found and cancelled. If you find out anything let me know." Michael agreed and left. The sim could wait. He had to get to Nikita.

She did not get up to let him in. She just told him to use the key. When he got in there she was sitting on the couch. She looked fine to him. She looked as though she had never been shot. Considering how pale she was the night before.

"How are you feeling?" He said.

"Great. Never felt better." She said forcing a smile on her face.

"I am going to find him Nikita. Don't worry."

"Me. Worried. Naw. I'm just fine." she said.

Michael sat down beside her and she put her hand on his and he looked at her and smiled. She needed the closeness. She was scared. He knew it. Even though she said that she wasn't . She always wanted to be close to him when she felt threatened. So that is where he stayed for the rest of the evening. And they took advantage of it. They both knew that making love was out of the question. Not in her condition. She was still in pain. But what they did do was crawl up in her bed and slept in each others' arms. With Michael she always felt safe.

The next morning Nikita was the first to wake up. Somehow she had turned during the night to where the hand that was on her side when she went to sleep was now resting on her breast. Not that she minded but she let out a little laugh. That was what woke up Michael. He looked at her and smiled and then he realized where his hand was and moved it actually turning a little red.

"Sorry about that." He said.

"Oh. Don't worry. It was my pleasure." she laughed. He could not help but join in.

"Are you hungry? I can make you some breakfast before we go into Section." Nikita said.

"I am hungry but let me make the breakfast. And I talked to Madeline last night before I came over and she said that unless we are needed that we should just work on trying to find this freak that is bothering you. And we will find him."

Michael kissed Nikita and got up out of the bed. He also did not fail to realize that his pants were off. All he was wearing was a pair of boxers and a t-shirt. Nikita let out a laugh. Michael looked up at her.

"Don't look at me. I didn't do it." She said.

Michael really did not seem that bothered with it. It was not the first time that he had woken to find that he had stripped down to his boxers. It must have been the heat.

He threw on his pants much to Nikita disappointment. But she followed him into the living room wearing the same baby blue t-shirt that she had worn a few days earlier and a pair of little pink panties. Michael looked up at her as he got into the kitchen. Seeing a sight that took his breath away.

"What is wrong with you?" Nikita asked. Knew exactly what it was. She loved to tease him.

"How are you feeling this morning?" he asked.

"I am still a little sore."

"Then you need to go and put some pants on."

"Well what would you have said if I told you that I was fine?" she challenged.

"Then I would have told you that you needed to go and take them off." he smiled and said.

Nikita had wanted to know but she could not help but blush when he said it.

"I will be right back." she said with a smile. Then she walked back to the room as Michael watched that cute little wiggle again.

Once breakfast had been eaten Michael suggested that they go for a walk. That maybe whoever what doing this might follow them out and they could grab him. So they left for the park.

As they walked hand in hand they were very aware of their surroundings. Both looking in all directions. But it was subtle. No one else could tell that they were looking for someone. There were people jogging and walking and riding bikes. The park was full. All of a sudden one of the men jogging ran right into Nikita and knocked her down. Michael grabbed him and the guy started apologizing. He knew that this was not the stalker. Nikita had just lost her balance when he had hit her.

The day in the park had been unsuccessful. So they had went back to the apartment. Nikita first went into the kitchen to get a glass of water. It was so hot out. Then she went to the bathroom to take a shower. When she walked in she looked at the mirror.

"Michael!!" Nikita screamed.

Michael came running as fast as he could. When he got to the bathroom he saw on the mirror written in lipstick the words. "Eye for and eye."

"He has been in the house again." she said. "And what could he mean with 'An eye for and eye?' I have not done anything to anyone. Only on missions and none of them know where I live."

"Then they must be from the Section." Michael said.

"But who? What did I do that was so bad?"

"I don't know. Come on. We are going into Section. We need to talk to Operations and Madeline."

Once they got there they went straight for Madeline's office. Then they waited for Ops to show up. Once they did they began.

"I believe that the problem is internal." Michael said.

"What makes you think that?" Madeline said.

"Well before Nikita called me to the bathroom I found this on her couch. It had my name on it" he pulled out another card and began to read it. "It says, 'I am going to get her Michael and there is nothing that you or anyone else in Section can do to stop me."

Madeline looked over at Operations as he picked up the phone. When someone picked up he said, "Birkoff I want you and Walter to come to Madeline's office right now for a briefing."

"Yes sir. We will be right up." Birkoff answered.

Once they had arrived in the office Walter asked, "Why is the briefing in the office and not in the briefing room?"

"We have a problem and it is believed to be internal. I need some people that can be trusted and help up find out what is going on." Operations said.

Then Operations began to explain what they were going to do. "We are going to set up a trap for the guy. Only the six of us will know what is going on. Not even the Agency will know. Walter I want you make a bug that can be hidden and not detected. And also I want you to take that miniature gun that you have been working on and load it with tranquilizer darts. I do not want this guy killed if it can be avoided. I want him to be questioned before he is disposed of. Birkoff I want you to send Housekeeping to Nikita's apartment and have them check everything. We have got to find out where this guy is coming from. He obviously knows when she is gone and when she is home. Michael, I want you to follow Nikita home. She will have a tracking device on her. You are to stay far enough back so that no one knows you are there. We need to see if he will follow her home. Madeline and I will be going over the record and see if we can find anyone who may have a reason to come after Nikita. You can leave now. But keep in touch."

"Walter. When you and Birkoff get finished I want you to get in your truck and come towards Nikita's." They agreed. But before they left Walter had the transmitter and the gun ready for Nikita to take. And within minutes after Michael and Nikita had left they followed at well.

Nikita was a little nervous on the ride home. But Michael talked to her all the way. He had given her a com set so that they could be in constant communication. Nikita would crack jokes trying to ease her fear a little. Even Michael told a few. That was until he heard a loud noise through the com set. It was the sound of squealing tires.

"Michael there is someone following me. He is coming up beside me." Nikita said.

"Speed up. I'm coming." Michael pushed to gas pedal all the way to the floor.

Right as he got within sight of her car he saw a bright flash come from within the car beside her. He knew right away that it was a gun shot. Then Nikita's car swerved and hit a telephone pole. Michael sped up and got out of the car and ran to Nikita's side. He looked through the broken glass of the drivers side door. There was blood on the side of her head. Just as he reached for her she moved.

"Damn that hurt." she said.

"Are you alright?" Michael said. He thought about it for a second. How many times have I said that in the past week?

"No. I am not alright. I am mad. I wrecked my car. I just got this thing. And I have got a headache. How would you feel?"

Michael smiled at her. She was really mad. The fear that she had been feeling the last couple of day was now replaced by anger. He knew that she was more intent on catching this guy now.

Right after Michael had got to the window Birkoff and Walter came over the hill and saw Nikita's car wrecked with Michael leaning in the window. They rushed to the side of the car. Michael was smiling.

"Is she alright?" Walter asked and then added. "And what are you smiling about?"

"See for yourself." Michael said as he pointed towards Nikita. All the saw was Nikita sitting behind the wheel talking to herself.

"I cannot believe that he made me wreck my new car. I just got this car. Well that is it. If he wants to come after me that was one thing. But he messed up my car. I am going to get him right now. " Then she tried to start the engine.

When Michael heard her try to crank the engine he reached in and got the keys out of the ignition and got the meanest look from Nikita. When he started to walk away she jumped out of the car and had to steady herself from the dizziness. Then she went after Michael.

"Give me my keys. I am going to find him."

"No. WE are going to go and find him." Then he pointed over to her car. "And do you honestly think you would be able to get anywhere in that thing?"

"My car!!!" She had not seen how bad it had actually been wrecked.

"Nikita. Did you see him?" Birkoff asked.

"I saw a little bit of him but I really did not get a good look. I know he had dark brown hair. It could have even been black. He had a scar on his cheek. I did not recognize him from anywhere. And I surely have not seen him around Section. "

"Well atleast I have a little more information to run through the data base. With the handwriting sample and the partial description I might come up with a few matches."

So Birkoff went to his truck and began to run the description that Nikita had given him and the people that Madeline and Operations had given him of some possible suspects. In the end he came up with five matches.

"O.k. This is what we have got."

He showed the matched to Nikita. The first one was a man that she had went on a mission with before and she had to report back to Operations on how his performance was. And because of that he was put in abeyance for five months until he proved himself a worthy operative.

The next man was a man from Section five. He had been transferred to Section One for about five weeks. And for some reason he did not like Nikita. He had threatened to kill her twice. Once in front of Michael. And that was a mistake. You do not say anything about Nikita in front of Michael. At least, not if you value your life.

The third man was a target turned operative. It had been Nikita who had to bring him in. She had to seduce him and make him fall in love with her. And he did. But when he was brought to Section he swore vengence. The fourth man was former Officer O'Brien. He was furious when Nikita brought him into Section. All he was trying to do was serve and protect and this was what he got for his trouble. A lifetime in Section of death. He had figured after a year in Section that he should have chose death. But when the picture of the last guy came up Nikita's eyes got as big as saucers and Michael saw this.

"What is it? Is that him?" he said.

"That is him. Who is he?" she asked.

"That guy's name is Jacob Armel."

"Armel !?! Are you saying that is a relation of his?"

"That is exactly what I am saying." Birkoff said to her question.

"How could he have found out about us?" Michael asked.

"Well it seems as though Operations and Madeline released Louis but did a memory adjustment on him. But it does not look like it worked. After he left Section he went to his uncle's house and told him what happened. That was about a month ago."

"I want you to go and find out where he is at now. I am going to take Nikita to Medlab to get her checked out." Michael said.

"The hell you are. I am getting tired of that place." Nikita stomped off towards Michael's car.

"You are going to Medlab." Michael said. He should have not said it either.

"NO I AM NOT!"

"YES. You are."

"WAIT AND SEE."

"Oh I will." Michael said with a smile on his face.

After Nikita left Medlab she glared a Michael who was standing out in the hallway laughing. He told her that he would make her go. Even if he had to carry her. Right after their little arguement in the car he took out a tranq dart out of his pocket and stuck it into Nikita's arm. She fit to be tied when she woke up in Medlab.

"I told you that you would go. And see you needed to. You have a concussion."

"And a killer headache. As if it was not bad enough before. Thanks alot." She said sarcastically.

"Oh. It was my pleasure." Michael said back to her. She just stomped off to Michael's office. Then she locked him out. He went up to the door to open it and it did not open. So he took a little remote out of his pocket and pushed a button. And he heard the door unlock.

"How in the world did you do that?" Nikita said as she threw her hands up in the air as if saying ' I give up.' Then she smiled at him and sat down. "Well if you can't beat them. Join them."

"That sounds like a good idea. Do you want to go out for coffee? We can go out for a little while. Then we can come back to Section. While you were in Medlab I talked to Operations. Jacob Armel was picked up about an hour ago. So was Louis."

As she looped her arm into his and they began to walk out of Section she said, "In that case, I would love to."
