In 1989 Frank Williams, Isaac Johnson, and Mike Cronin founded the "South Holland Sox". The team consisted of a combination of the 3 founders friends and family. After 3 years of losing badly and the differences in opinions in about how the team should be ran, the team split up in different directions.
Frank Williams and Jason Gerloff founded the "Chicago Hurricanes" in 1992. The "Chicago Hurricanes" lasted about 3 years together until changes needed to be made to better the team. Players were cut or left to play with other teams. The players who remained wanted to rename the team. The team name that was decided on was the NightHawks. NightHawks Softball was founded by Frank Williams, Isaac Johnson, and Frank Theard in the year 1995. The team colors are red, black, and grey (sometimes white). The NightHawks are based out of the south suburbs of Chicago. They have played in many leagues through the years including: Dolton, Riverdale, South Holland, Blue Island, Orland Park, and Country Club Hills. The NightHawks also travel to different states to play in tournaments. Then in 1995 Mike Cronin founded the Batmen. The Batmen and Nighthawks had a big rivalry for 6 years. It was always a big battle between the two teams, each one wanting the bragging rites and once and for all see who the better team was. On overall head to head competition the teams managed to split each series making neither team the better of the two. As of Aug. 1st, 2001 the NightHawks and Batmen have combined into one team.
