These are some pictures of a big boar I shot while blocking trail near Powerline trail on June 1, 2003.  Got him in the rose apples down in Hanalei valley.  Bass and Evan ran the dogs from the kukui flat all the way down to me.  This must have been the smart boar because it hasn't even been touched by dogs yet and was running several hundred yards ahead of the pack.  Evan took the pictures.
Live weight was about 140 pounds but it had the frame to be much bigger.  Could have been a 200 pounder if it was fattened up but as it was, there was so little meat that we couldn't even scrape the ribs.
Here you can see where I hit him with the first shot.  The slug out of the 20 guage went through the first pad and both lungs stopping on the second pad with no exit wound.  Second shot was with buck shot.  Two of the shot went through the lungs and a few were further up behind the head and one might have hit the spine cause it took two steps, froze up and fell.  Both shots were about 10 yards, a few seconds apart.
Here's a couple of the dogs.  the white dog is my Pitbull/sharpei that I got from the Humane Society.  She's still young but hunts great allready.  Gonna be a real ace!
And Bass is holding his brindle Bull/Airdale/+ mix named Honey-Girl.  She's his 3rd best dog, another Ace.
Tusks measured 2" long and were by far the sharpest razors we had ever seen.  One guy actually cut his hand while playing with it.  This boar was 5 or 6 years old and is my third best pig to date.
A scruffy light colored face.
Made some good Kalua Pig out of this boar
