| Tracy woke up to the sound of Nick's voice in her ear the next morning. Rubbing her eyes, she rolled over and looked at him. "Morning," he said smiling. Damn it, this feeling should be gone, she told herself. "Morning." Nick leaned into kiss her and quickly she pulled away. "I should go find Lisa," she said, standing to find her clothes. "Can't it wait?" he questioned, sitting up in bed, the covers draped lazily over his lap. Jesus he looked incredible, those blue eyes, his hair a mess. She shook it from her thoughts. "No Nick, it can't," she answered, pulling on her shirt. Nick sighed. "Alright, well, what are we going to do today?" he asked. Tracy looked up at him stunned for a second. "I don't know what your going to do but I'm gonna find Lisa, drive over to her place and take a shower," she answered. "Alright that sounds like a plan. We'll drop by my place and I'll pick up some clothes," he said, reaching for his jeans. "Nick, I meant alone." He looked up at her a little confused. "Tracy, I just thought we could hang out," he answered. "Nick, this was a one night stand," she stated flatly. "Well Krystal was right on one point and wrong on another. It's not just where cars are concerned that you have a dick," he said in just as flat of tone. "Don't be a child," she said lightly. "Tracy, how old are you?" he asked heatedly. "24, why?" she asked. "Because I just had to know how many more years I had to go before I possess that wealth of knowledge you seem to think you do," he answered, anger flashing. "Whatever baby boy. I'm out of here. Maybe if you get lucky, someday that head of yours will catch up with that dick," she said as she made her way to the door. Seeing his reflection in the dresser mirror, she stopped. He was clearly hurt by the last statement. She took in a breath. "Damn Tracy, that was cold," he said, pulling his shirt on. "Nick, I'm sorry, but it was one night, 24 hours," she said carefully. Nick smiled suddenly. "24 did you say?" he questioned. "Generally there are 24 hours in a day," she answered. He walked over to her, placing his hands on her waist. "In that case, I still have 13 hours. We didn't hook up until 11 last night and it's only 10 now," he said, gesturing to the clock. "Nick," she began. "No, your words not mine. Let's go," he said, taking her hand and pulling her towards the living room. When they walked into the living room, Lisa and Frank couldn't help but look up and smile. "Damn you two are noisy," Lisa said, smiling at Tracy. "Lisa," Tracy said, issuing her a 'shut up' look. "Okay okay. So what are you guys gonna do today?" Lisa asked, changing the subject. "Ask Nick here. He has decided to kidnap me," Tracy said smiling at him. "Damn straight. I thought I'd take her out to the pier. Maybe the beach," Nick said more to Frank than Tracy. "Sounds like fun. I think we'll just hang out here and do the pool," Lisa said, looking to Frank for confirmation. "Cool. Hey Lisa, can I get the keys to the house? I need to go change." "Sure babe. Here ya go," Lisa said, grabbing them from her purse. "If you need to get a hold of me later, just call my cell." "Okay I will. Nick, we should go if we need to go by your house too," she said standing. Frank shot him a look. "Man you don't wanna drive clear out there. You can borrow something of mine," he said, trying to be casual. "Oh really Nick, I don't mind," Tracy said, assuring him it was okay. "Really hon, it's about a 45 minute trip. I'll just grab something from Frank. Be back in just a few," he said, smiling at her. Frank trailed Nick out of the room, leaving Lisa and Tracy to themselves for the first time in 24 hours. "So?" Lisa questioned. "So what?" Tracy countered. "Come on girl. Was he terrific?" she asked. "Yeah Lisa, he was. So terrific it scares me," she answered lowly. "Just my luck, exactly what I don't need, a pop phenomenon in my life," she added, lowering her voice. Lisa looked at her shocked. "Yeah Lisa I knew. I have MTV. I know who he is." "Tracy come on, have some fun with it," Lisa added, smiling at her. "I'm trying Lisa," she said standing up pacing the floor. Nick was showered, dressed in jeans and jersey and walking her to the car 20 minutes later. "I'm jealous, your clean. I feel like I'm sticking to my pants here," she said in a disgusted voice as she climbed into the car. "You probably are babe," he answered smirking. "Ego much?" she shot back at him. He laughed aloud. "No not really. You're wearing leather," he said, gesturing to her pants. "Oh," she said, joining in his laughter. The easy conversation between them continued and in no time, they arrived at Lisa's. Tracy unlocked the door and showed Nick into the living room. "Give me 15 minutes," she said, starting for the bathroom. "No rush, take your time Tracy," he answered. "Well I better hurry. The way I see it, you've only got 12 hours left," she said, shutting the door before she broke out in laughter at the look on his face. Tracy quickly showered with vanilla body gel and washed her hair. She contemplated drying it but decided to go for casual. Running a brush through her hair, she dressed in jeans and a dark blue tank top, adding some clear lip gloss and mascara. She didn't want to frighten him she thought to herself. Deciding to wrap her hair into a clip, she twisted it up and added the blue claw clip to the top of her head. With a final look in the mirror, she tossed her towel into the hamper and headed out back to Nick. "Sorry," she said, walking back into the room. "No problem, you look great," he said, smiling at her. "Now I know you have a hangover," she said laughing. "Well where are we going?" Tracy asked, grabbing her purse. "How about some lunch out at the pier?" he asked. "Like seafood?" he added, opening the door. "Love it, let's go." "Tracy?" he asked as they got to the car. "Yeah Nick?" "Maybe I should drive. I mean I know where we're going and" She cut him off there. "Nope. Just let me know where I need to turn," she said, sliding into the car smiling. Nick relented and slid into the passenger seat. "Can we at least put the top down?" he asked, almost pleading. "Sure honey. Whatever makes ya happy," she answered, flicking the switch allowing the Florida sun to hit their bodies. "Obviously not, you won't let me drive," he said pouting. Tracy couldn't contain her laughter. "Awww poor Nicky," she cooed. Nick fought to correct her. Somehow her calling him that just seemed appropriate. They made their way to the pier laughing and with Nick playing with the stereo as if were trying to avoid every top 40 channel in town. Arriving at the restaurant, Nick walked in and the server seemed to jump immediately. "2 Sir?" she questioned. He nodded. "Smoking or non?" she continued grabbing menus. "Non," Nick began. "Smoking," Tracy said, taking the pack of Marlboros from her purse and flashing them at him. "Oh alright," he said relenting. "Well thank you," she said mocking him. The server sat them and prepared to take their drink order. "Ma'am?" she said gesturing to Tracy. "Oh, what beers do you have on tap?" she asked and then caught herself. "Sorry I changed my mind, a sweetened ice tea please," she replied, lighting a cigarette. Nick looked over at her slightly embarrassed. "And you sir?" the server asked. "I'll have the same," he answered. When she walked away, Tracy looked over at Nick. "I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking," she said exhaling. "It's okay Tracy, you could have had a beer," he said, smiling at her. "Nope I'm driving. So Nicky what should we eat?" she asked. "Well I think I am going to have shrimp," he answered, glancing at her over the top of the menu. "That sounds good. I think I'll have that too," she said, folding the menu back and placing it on the table. They chatted and got to know each other over lunch. Nick however completely dodged the whole Backstreet Boy thing and not wanting to pry, Tracy didn't bring it up either. When the server brought their bill, Tracy reached over to pick it up. Nick's hand stopped her taking it from her. "I got this," he said, reaching for his wallet. "Nick really, just tell me what my part is," she said, taking out her wallet as well. "Tracy, I said I have this," he said, now taking out his credit card. When the waitress arrived to take the bill, Tracy looked at her and handed her a credit card. Nick immediately took it from her, replacing it with his. Tracy pushed out her chair and stood up, storming through the restaurant. She needed air and she needed it now. Nick quickly signed the bill and made his way out to the car. He could see her standing against it, smoking a cigarette. "Tracy, are you mad at me?" he asked, walking towards her. "Yes Nick, I am," she answered, staring at him. "What? What did I do?" he asked. "All I wanted to do was pay for lunch," he said a little unnerved. "You're so fucking immature. Would it really hurt your pride that much for a women to pay for something. Look Nicky, I'm not one of your little groupies. I don't need the 'I am a Backstreet Boy' treatment," she yelled. Nick looked at her shocked. "You knew?" he questioned. Tracy didn't say anything, she simply nodded. "Can we talk about this?" he asked, moving to stand in front of her, making her look into his eyes. "Please?" he added. Tracy reluctantly agreed, allowing him to take her hand and lead her down the walkway to the water before them. He stopped at a bench and sat down, gesturing for her to do the same. "Nick I'm sorry, I just don't think this is going to happen. Can we leave?" she asked. "Tracy wait," he began. "Let me explain a few things," he began. |
