| Chapter 49 | ||||||||
| After spending 2 days with the Carter?s, Nick and Gwen finally were back in their house in San Francisco. They hadn?t lived there together in nearly 4 months. Nick had left almost immediately after Gwen had originally left him there. They cleaned and went to the grocery store, normal housekeeping stuff, when they first arrived. | ||||||||
| Hours later, they found themselves laying in bed, the room illuminated only by the moon coming through the windows that created a glass wall. | ?There was a time when I didn?t know, but Gwenny you are my wife. I didn?t think that I would ever be able to say this but I am glad that you left me.? | ||||||||
| Confused, Gwen asked, ?What do you mean?? | ||||||||
| ?I never thought that I would be able to say that...but I don?t know. It is just that it made me realize so many things, for one, it was the first time I looked to the future and didn?t know what to expect. It was also the first time that I was completely alone with myself. The guys all had their things happening and I had to face a lot of things about me.? | ||||||||

| ?I needed it Nick, I still do. I wish it didn?t hurt so much,? Gwen said in a tearful whisper as more tears fell. | ||||||||
| ?I guess its different, for me...its like I was never really there. I was excited about being a dad, I have always wanted that,? Nick said as tears started to come to his eyes and he placed his hand on the side of her face, ?but even though we will never see our child, I am still thankful that it happened. Gwen, you don?t understand how much I appreciate what that did, it brought you back to me.? | ||||||||
| ?I think that I would have come back to you eventually...I love you,? she said as she covered the hand that he held on her cheek with his own and leaned in to kiss him. | ||||||||
| As he pulled away from the kiss, Nick leaned his forehead into hers, ?We are back in our house in our city, where it all started.? | ||||||||
| Gwen smiled as she looked into his eyes, knowing that he succeeding in making things right again and knowing that he wanted to make love to her. Instead of giving him the signal that it was alright, she made the first move. She ran her hand down the side of his naked body as she stared at him. He closed his eyes and a look of contentment and arousal crossed his face. Gwen sat up a little, leaning over Nick?s long body and gave him a searing kiss as he moved flat onto his back as she moved her body over his and sat down on his lower stomach, where she could feel his erection laying underneath her.
