| After landing in Dallas, Nick and Gwen headed straight for her parents house. They had phoned from the air and told them they were coming. Once again, the couple was fortunate to not have had the news of their marriage leaked to the press. | ||||||||
| ?So, Gwenny...I see and band on Nick?s hand, I hope you aren?t coming here to tell me that you got married without letting your Daddy give you away,? Mr. Latham stated in a monotone voice as he stared Nick down. | ||||||||
| Obviously afraid, Gwen replied, ?Daddy, I am sorry...it was a spontaneous deal. Nick didn?t even know, hell, I didn?t even know.? | ||||||||
| ?Honey, its not the fact that you married Nick, it is that you didn?t tell us and we weren?t allowed to be a part of it,? said Mrs. Latham. ?Gwenny, we know you love Nick and that he loves you, that isn?t it...? | ||||||||
| Nick interrupted, ?I am sorry, we should have thought about it. I wish that you could have seen things from my end. You do know that I love her and I don?t want anything but happiness for her,? he stated honestly as his grip on Gwen?s hand tightened and he looked deeply into her gray eyes, ?I have come so close to losing her so many times and when she said she wanted to marry me, I felt like it was my shot.? | ||||||||
| ?That isn?t what we are saying Nick, understand that...but you are going to have to learn that we don?t keep secrets in this family,? Mr. Latham stated, ?But, know that we are happy for you and Gwenny. We just have one request, you need to have another wedding so that I can give my baby away. And it needs to be in a church, I want God to witness this, I want this to be for real.? | ||||||||
| Nick and Gwen looked at eachother and nodded in agreement, ?Daddy, you have a deal.? | ||||||||
| ?So, did yall at least have your picture taken?? Mrs. Latham asked. | ||||||||
| Gwen pulled out a stack of pictures about six inches thick, ?So, yall want to see your baby girl getting married?? | ||||||||
| They all sat there and looked at the pictures from Nick and Gwen?s beach wedding. Caroline Latham cried with joy while Harrison Latham looked on, tears of sadness at the loss of his baby threatening to fall. | ||||||||
