Chapter 35

Over a month had gone by since Gwen had left Nick in San Francisco.  He was miserable without her and being back in Florida in the studio didn't help matters.  In Nick's family, they had always stuck together thru the bad times. 

As the month passed, Nick began to understand why she left, it didn't make it any easier but he knew that it wasn't their relationship that was the issue.  She only wanted to protect her family and he respected that.  Nick hadn't talked to Gwen since the night she left him but he knew from Brian's wife, Shannon, that she had taken a leave from her job in San Francisco and was back in Dallas living at her family's estate.  He found comfort in the fact that she was safe, that is what really mattered to him. 

He knew he'd see her again but he didn't realize how soon it would be.  As he pulled up the drive to his beachfront house in Florida he he noticed a silohuette sitting on his front porch.  'It can't be her' he thought to himself as he stepped out of the truck and started to approache her.  It was Gwen, she looked like she had been crying and he could tell by her dishevled appearance that something was wrong.

"Gwen, is that really you?" Nick asked.

She looked up at him and the tears started to stream down her face again, "Baby, what's the matter?"

"We need to talk," she said as she stood.  He approached her and wrapped his arms around her and opened the front door.  They walked in to the house, Gwen's head buried in Nick's chest as he held her while she cried.

"What's going on Gwen, talk to me..." Nick said as he walked her over to the couch and knelt in front of her.  He wiped a stray hair away from her face.

She looked at him, unable to control her tears from falling and said, "I'm pregnant."
