Chapter 15

The past two weeks had been miserable for both Gwen and Nick.  They hadn't spoken since the night of the argument.  Gwen had decided to be honest with Collin about her feelings but had decided against telling him about Nick.  She also decided that he deserved to be told in person.

As she walked up the ramp in Dallas she was scared.  She didn't know how he would react.  When Collin saw her, he grabbed her and hugged her tightly.  She moved her face when he tried to kiss her, "Lets get out of here," she said.

"OK, where to Cakes?" Collin asked.

"Lets go to the park by my parents house."

The guys were back and Florida in the studio recording a new album.  Nick was distracted, his heart was definately not in it and his mind was elsewhere.  He went outside when they were given a break to get some air.  Brian went out after him.

"Hey," Brian said breaking the long silence.

"Hey," Nick echoed back.

"Man, you can't do this to yourself -"

"What I am supposed to do?  For once in my life I saw exactly what I wanted and I was so close but I blew it."

Brian thought for a moment before revealing what he knew, "She's in Dallas this weekend.""

"How do you know that?" Nick asked.

"Well, Collin called Kevin - to see if he could re-schedule his trip, but Kev stood firm.  Collin said something about how there was something weird going on with Gwen and she made plans earlier this week to come to Dallas."

"Why would he tell Kev that?"

"Well, he knew that we all saw her in San Francisco and he wanted to know if we noticed anything strange or if we knew what was going on."

Nick just sat there, listening to Brian as he continued, "He told Kevin that she had said something about them needing to talk about something and how she couldn't do it over the phone."

Nick's eyes had dropped to the ground at the beginning of this conversation, "I wonder what is going on with her."

"You haven't talked to her?"

"No, not since we had that blow out...."

"What blow out?"

Nick went into the story of the phone call and what they had both said.  Brian was suprised, "Whoa dude, that's a pretty big deal...you should of told me.  I don't know, but whatever you said must have prompted some kind of decision."

"I wonder what it was, you never know with her." Nick was more nervous now that he had been before.
