Play My Song - Chapter 9

Once in the lobby, he scanned the crowds of girls to look for Sadie or her friend. Nothing.
Damnit, he cursed.
Nick made his way through the mass of fans, his bodyguard following to shove the girls off, towards the door just in time to see Sadie and her friend get into a taxi and drive away.
"Shit!" Nick yelled aloud.
All the fans just stared at him, wondering what was wrong.
Nick turned back to his guard and said, "She just got into a taxi. Come on, let's go back to the room."
"Giving up that fast Carter? You still have a shot."
His guard led him outside and around the corner for some privacy.
"Get out your cell. She gave me her number during the show just in case you couldn't find her after."
Nick smiled in delight and quickly busted out his cell phone. He dialed the number with shivering fingers and waited for her to answer.

Sadie and Rylie sat silent in the taxi on their way back to their apartment. Sadie watched the yellow lines quickly go by on the pavement, relating it to her life and wondering if pursuing this music career was only a waste of time. If her life was briskly passing her by. She felt her cell phone vibrate in her purse but she paid no attention, she knew it was him. Who else would be calling her at midnight? Especially since everyone knew she would be downtown all night, trying to get that far-fetched record deal.
Your phone is vibrating, Rylie spoke.
Yea, I know. Sadie replied.
Think its him?
I know its him.
Rylie sighed, Did you give him your demo?
Shit. No I forgot.
What!? That was the whole goal ya know!
Sadie turned to face Rylie, I know that! Oh well, hes a bastard anyway.
Because he wanted to get laid?
Sadie rolled her eyes, I dont want to talk about him anymore, okay? Can we just pretend this night never happened?
Rylie studied Sadie, Is there something youre not telling me? Did something happen between you and him?
No. Well, Sadie hesitated, No. Nothing actually happened.
Then whyd you stall to answer me?
Sadie turned back to the window and murmured, because.
Because why?
Just quit, would you? Im already feeling like crap without having you remind me of it.
Rylie looked away and didnt say anything more. She knew Sadie, and she knew not to push it with her. When Sadie was ready to talk, shed talk.

The driver dropped them off in front of their building and they quickly made their way inside, checking their mail, then they made their way up the stairs to their floor. Their apartment was technically the largest in their complex, though itd been built like a loft. The girls had only been living in the loft for a total of 3 weeks. Boxes were all over the place along with furniture and clothes. They planned to fix up the place and decorate once the weather became warmer. But for now, the agenda was to take a shower and plop into bed for the night.
