Play My Song - Chapter 10

"She's not answering." Nick held his body and bounced up and down, trying not to let his blood freeze. He listened as her voicemail picked up, enjoying the sound of her voice. After the beep, Nick left his message,
"Hey Sadie, it's Nick. Um, listen, I'm sorry about everything. I'm not going to give you a good bullshit excuse since I don't have one but please just call me. I want to hear from you. I really like you and I would like to see you again before I leave for Chicago. Just give me a call at 305-535-8915. Otherwise call the hotel and ask for my room. I don't have anything planned for tomorrow so I'll most likely be in my room. I really hope you call. I really like you...a lot."
Nick sighed and clicked the off button. He smiled hopefully to his guard as they walked back to the hotel, through the crowd, and back to his room.

Sadie couldn't sleep. She tossed and turned in her bed for over 3 hours, finally getting up and lazily stumbling into the kitchen. She turned on a light and poured herself a glass of orange juice. She made her way barefoot over the cold wood floor and onto the sofa. Taking a sip of her orange juice, she heard her cell phone ring. Puzzled, she got up and went to see who was calling. The caller ID said: 305-535-8915.
He sure is a fighter, she thought. Too bad he's not good at winning his battles.
Sadie contemplated whether to answer it or not. She knew he already left her a voicemail but she didn't want to speak to him directly. She walked away from the phone and went into her bedroom. Sitting down at her desk, she dug through one of her boxes until she found what she was looking for. Her notebook filled with song lyrics. Though Sadie didn't play any instruments, she wrote tons of song lyrics. Potential hits. They all reflected her feelings and the things she was going through in life. Sadie pulled out a pencil and began to scribble down her emotions.

Will you remember me?
Like the circled stones
On the ancient hills
Where you walk alone
Where the wind can speak
My secret name
Like the air you breathe
Will you remember me?

Will you remember me?
As your airplane flies
Over foreign seas
And breaking skies
Like a perfect child
You can't bear to leave
In your last long days
Will you remember me?**

Sadie put down her pencil and thought to herself,
Eh, that'll do. Sadie crawled back into her warm bed, shut off the light, and soon fell asleep. Only to be awakened every thirty minutes by her phone buzzing on the kitchen counter.
