Play My Song - Chapter 11

Sadie jittered her keys in her hand as she tried to find the apartment key to get in. The phone rang from behind the door and all she could think was,
Please God don't let me miss this call. Finally unlocking her door, she dumped her purse and shopping bag on the floor as she made her way to the phone, grabbing it just in time.
"Hello?" She asked, breathless.
"Hello my name is Tanya Penn and I am with Azoff Management. Is Sadie Kleminson available?"
Thank the Lord above! The call I've been waiting for! "Oh hi Tanya, this is Sadie."
"Hi Sadie. Listen, I just wanted to inform you that we have recieved your demo, we have everything we need and Irving himself will be reviewing it as soon as he gets a break from touring with Christina Aguilera okay?"
"That's wonderful news Tanya, thank you. Listen, I have a question for you."
"Shoot." The woman spoke through the reciever.
"I am planning a visit to California next week. Do you think he would have listened to it by then so we could possibly meet if he likes it?" Sadie bit her lip hopefully and waited for a reply.
"Ummm...", Tanya ruffled through a few papers then replied, "I can notify Irving that you'll be in the area and see what his stance on it is."
"That would be wonderful, thank you so much."
"Anytime. And I look forward to working with you hun."
Sadie's smile grew bigger, "Thanks. Same to you."
"Goodbye."
"Bye."
Sadie clicked the off button and collapsed on her couch, a permanent smile plastered to her freshly tanned face. It had been 4 months since her encounter at Nick's concert. After about a week of calling her cell phone non-stop, Sadie changed her phone number and finally had her peace. Though she secretly kept up on the latest Nick Carter news, she never admitted to anyone that she still thought about him. Not even to Rylie. He was just another guy that was in-and-out of her life so quickly that she didn't have time to give it a second thought. He was there, she was here. And that was that.
"Hello?" Rylie called into the apartment, gazing around the room, wondering where Sadie was, why the door was wide open, and why Sadie's stuff was thrown all around the place.
"Is anyone here? Sadie?"
Sadie laughed, "Don't worry girl, I'm here. Everything's fine! I had to rush in to get the phone."
Sadie got up from her seat on the couch and headed towards the door, picking up her stuff along the way.
"Oh thank God. I thought someone busted in, mugged you & kidnapped you!"
Sadie rolled her eyes, "I can defend myself ya know."
Rylie shut the door and locked it, "I know. I just worry sometimes."
"Well thanks mommy but I'm fine."
Rylie stuck her tongue out at Sadie then made her way to the kitchen, putting down the groceries and sticking them into the empty fridge.
"So who called?" Rylie yelled to Sadie who was in her bedroom, changing out of her work clothes into jeans and a t-shirt.
"Tanya from Azoff Management", Sadie yelled back, "she said Irving got my stuff and he's going to listen to it as soon as he can. She also said she'll let him know that we'll be in the area next week if he wants to meet." Sadie emerged out of her bedroom, pulling her hair into a ponytail, then sitting down at the breakfast bar.
"Awesome! That's so great Sadie. You're gonna be fuckin famous!" Rylie gleefully squeeled.
Sadie giggled, "Chill dear. First he's got to like it. Then want to sign me. Then we'll talk album. Plus, who knows if it'll even sell?"
"It'll sell", Rylie reassured. "Trust me, it'll sell."
There was a short pause between both girls as they thought about Sadie becoming successful. Releasing her own album, going on tour, doing interviews and magazine articles. Turning on the radio to hear her voice.
Rylie cut back to reality first and asked, "Are you ready for LA? I saw you went shopping after work. Wha'd ya buy?"
Sadie jumped off of her stool and ran to her bedroom, grabbing the large Saks bag and then running back in, excited to show Rylie what she'd bought.
"I'm so ready", Sadie beamed, "I got a cute summery kinda dress." She began to pull out each article of clothing and show Rylie as she explained. "A pair of black pants, two t-shirts, a pair of jeans, these cute strappy heels, and this Guess? bag."
"Wow. I guess you're ready for LA then huh?"
"Yup." Sadie smiled and put the clothes back in the bag. As she walked back to her room, she thought about that phonecall and if that was the call that may change her life.
