Play My Song - Chapter 1

"Nick Carter?"
Yeah? Nick groggily spoke into the receiver.
Wes McCaine from 101.3 KDWB here. Ready to go on the air?
Nick sighed and sat up in his stiff hotel room bed, Yeah Im ready.
Cool, then hold on a second.
Jennifer Lopezs voice filled the earpiece as Nick stayed on hold. He didnt even know what city he was in, let alone which state. Hed lost track weeks ago. Nick got out of bed, pulling the warm sheets with him, and went to the balcony to see if he could get a clue as to where he was.
Hmmm. Snowy, cold, gray skies. He thought. Wisconsin maybe. Or Minnesota.
Before he could ponder his location longer, he was taken off hold.
101.3 KDWB, Wes McCaine here with Nick Carter on the phone. How are you Nick?
Nick rolled his eyes, Im great.
Youre doin a show in a few hours at the Quest Nightclub. Ready?
Yeah Im really psyched to do this show. Its going to be awesome.
You know, we play your song non-stop, the request lines are always blowin up for it, and your show is sold out. Feels good huh?
Yeah Im so thankful that people like what Ive been doing and support me.
Did you ever expect solo success to grow into what it has?
Nick sighed and ran his hand through his blonde locks, Not really. I mean, I just wanted to make this album and see where it went. If it sold twenty copies or twenty million copies Id be just as glad that I made the record & Id be proud of it just the same. But all the sales & support is definitely a big boost for me.
I bet. And Minnesota definitely supports you.
Nick gazed out the window,
Ah, Minnesota, he thought.
Thank you. He replied.
So Nick, one more big question before you go and get ready for the show, Wes continued.
Anything.
Whats with the big rumors that you have a girlfriend?"
Nick chuckled lightly, "All lies man, all lies."
"Lies? A good looking successful man like yourself doesn't have a hot chick to hang on his shoulder?"
"Well you know", Nick hesitated, "I'm lookin' for someone that I can trust. Not just a pretty face."
I hear that. Alright well thank you for talking with me Nick, have a good show tonight. Ill be broadcasting live from the venue so if youd like you can stop by the studi.
I might just have to do that, but thanks and Id better get going.
Ok, see ya.
Bye.
Nick hung up the phone and threw the phone on the bed. He made his way into the bathroom and turned the shower on. Stepping in, he closed the curtain and felt the warm water hit his skin. He held his hands up and felt it flow down his arms, giving him goosebumps. He then filled his hands with water and splashed his face.
Damn. He thought. Just another show, in another lonely city, in another boring state, nowhere near home.
