Something about me and my story getting to know and love Nickelback and Mike!
So, what is there to be said about me?!?
My name is Maria, I was born in 1987 and I have lived in a small, small town one hour away from Cologne, Germany ever since.
I made the German university-entrance diploma in 2006 and started a professional trainig thereafter. However, I discovered that my current job is not the profession of my dreams, so I decided do learn something else, after I passed my final exams and then start another apprenticeship or a study.

You're certainly interested in how I got to know Nickelback and Mike, so here's my story.
I've had to to with music all my life. My parents strongly influenced my taste in music, since i grew up with bands and artists like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Cat Stevens, Dire Straits, The Mommas and the Papas, Phil Collins, Bryan Adams, Simon & Garfunkel as well as with German ans Dutch artists like Reinhard Mey and Hermann van Veen. Moreover, my dad plays in several bands that cover bands and artists mentioned above and I played the piano since I was 6 to the age of 16 years.
My taste in music is very divers. Generally, I listen to rock music, but as well as that, I also like a lot of poptunes and -bands, film scores and classical music.
To show you a few exapmles: besides the bands and artists I mentioned above, that I still like to listen to, I listened to Britney Spears, Craig David, R. Kelly and Anastacia when I was 12-14 years old. At the age of 15, I started to listen to more and more rock music. It all started with the sountrack for the movie "Spider-Man" and continued with Puddle of Mudd, Foo Fighters and Nirvana, until I finally got to know Nickelback. More on that later. Other comparable bands were 3 Doors Down and Alter Bridge.
At the age of 18, I listened to the band Coheed and Cambria and when I was 19, I started listening to the band Tool and became pretty enganged in these bands. Other than that, I now also listen to A Perfect Circle, Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson, Coldplay and also some songs by Justin Timberlake etc.

But here's finally my personal story concerning Nickelback:
Of course, when I first saw the guys, the first one I remembered was Chad. He just has that catchy outward appearance that stuck into my head since "How You Remind Me" - and indeed reminded me of that band called Nickelback, when I saw him again in the "Hero"-video.
Though I actually didn't want to listen to HYRM, just because everybody did, I got to hear it nevertheless, one day, and I was pleasantly surprised! I began to really like the song!
But at first, I dind't care so much about the band itself and there wasn't much said about them in the media (here in Germany), so I forgot about all that until I first heard "Hero" and loved the song right from the place!
Then, when I first saw "Too Bad" on TV, I just had to get that album. And I was so amazed by it that I quickly bought "Curb" and "The State", too. It didn't take long until I could sing all the lyrics by heart and loved them.
That, actually, was the time when I started to become a fan for Nickelback.

The first time I really realized Mike was in the "Too Bad"-video, as well, since cowboy hats aren't seen that often in Europe. I thought (and still think!) that he looked damn good with it and loved his way immediately!
So, after all, I finally started to find out about the band which wasn't that easy because I didn't have the possibility to use the internet back then.
That was why I was so happy to find the "Live at Home"-DVD underneath the Christmas tree that year! I finally had a little more information about this really handsome guy!
I watched the DVD over and over again and tried to get a picture of Mike and the band.

To me, Mike just sticks out of the band, because he seems like the quiet one - but if you have a closer look, you realize, he can be totally different from that! He can rock the stage and also make me laugh with his way too funny comments in interviews etc.! I love his sometimes sarcastic kind of humour, because he's just like me in that way.
And putting one of his very cute smiles on, you can't but love him!

The quiet Mike comes out, for example, when he talks about his family - especially his children. He loves them a lot what he now perpetuated in the form of his tattoos.
But also talking about his life and making music shows me once more why I like him so much:
His attitude concerning all that couldn't be more reasonable, as I think. He knows that music is his job and that right this fact follows a long list of many - somtimes also annoying - tasks; like e.g. giving one interview after another and signing hundreds of autographs etc. These things bother everybody from time to time, that's what he admits. But at the same time he (and also the other bandmembers) never forgets that it is right this that he makes his living with! It's the fans that he does all that for and they are the ones who put him and the band at where they are now!
I don't know that many artists who keep answering the question about the annoying parts of their job in music business or entertainment in general, like Mike and Nickelback do!
And I'm sure they don't only say that. I feel, they really mean it! I feel it every time I see them performing and giving their fans what they have to give!
Meeting Mike, Chad and Daniel on Septemer 17th, 2005 once more underlined my impression!
