~~~~Two Lives, One Heart ~~~~
Chapter Twelve
Elisha was just settling in to watch a video when the phone rang. "Damn, how do people know when it's my day off?" she cursed. She was surprised to hear Nick's voice on the other end of the line. "I thought you might be working today." she said.
"No, it's a rare day off for us." Nick replied.
"That's cool." she answered. "It's our day off too."
"Do you think we could do something?"
Elisha smiled to herself. He was so damned sweet, how could she resist? "How about roller-blading?" she suggested.
Nick hesitated. He had his blades on the bus but he didn't really feel like being rushed by fans today, and if they were outside, he probably would be.
She sensed what he was thinking. "C'mon big rock star, grab some glasses and a hat and get your butt over here!" she teased. "You can roller blade can't you?"
"Oh, a challenge!" Nick crowed. "You are on!"
Elisha took Nick to a park near to her place. It wasn't too crowded because it was a school day, but there was still a good number of people there. Elisha knew he was nervous about being recognized so she grabbed his hat and pulled it low over his eyes.
"No one knows it's you, okay? If you keep acting like a secret service agent though....just act natural, it's cool!"
They sat down on a bench and laced up their blades. Elisha was able to keep up with him, but barely. After about an hour, they both collapsed on the grass.
"Hey, you're pretty good!" she said.
"Well, you are too for an old lady!" Elisha glared at him and he covered his mouth with his hands. "Ooops, my bad....!"
She moved towards him threateningly. "You are so dead, Nick!" She began tickling his stomach and then under his arms, knees, whatever spot he left open.
"Okay, okay, I give!" he cried out. They had rolled over and over in the course of the tickle battle and ended up with Elisha on top of Nick.
"You give? That means I win!"
In an instant, Nick had her flipped and pinned down. "Never give up your guard with me!" he grinned. "I hate to lose!"
They both started laughing and then grew quiet as they stared into each others eyes. Elisha couldn't believe how attracted she was to him.
"I'd really like to kiss you right now." she said quietly. Nick could barely get the words out.
"That's good, because I was just going to ask if I could kiss you."
She pulled his head down towards her and kissed his lips. Nick moaned her name and grabbed her tighter to him. Before things got to intense, he broke away.
"What's the matter?" she asked.
"I just, not in public, okay. It's not that I'm afraid of someone taking my picture or anything. I'm just shy."
She giggled. "You're shy?"
"Yeah, a bit." he said, defensively.
"Okay, I believe you! Should we head back for lunch then?"
"Can we just go back to your place?" he asked. "I can help whip something up for us."
Elisha smilied. "That should be good, let's go!"
She left Nick to the task of flipping burgers on the barbeque while she tossed a salad inside. "This is so stupid." she thought to herself. "A younger guy, a MUCH younger guy, who, after tomorrow, I will never see again. What am I doing?" Elisha watched him out the window, he turned and saw her, she gave a small wave when he winked at her. "God, it would probably help if he wasn't so freaking gorgeous, AND sweet, AND charming." She sighed and stabbed a large fork into the salad.
"Stop it!" she said out loud.
"What did I do?" Nick asked.
She looked up, startled. "Oh, nothing. I'm just talking to myself again."
Nick wagged his finger in front of her. "That's a bad habit, you never know what you might tell yourself that you're not supposed to!"
Elisha threaded her arm through his and pulled him out to the back. "C'mon, jerk, I'm starving!"
