Kathy awoke to the feel of someone stroking her face.
Nick's warm body was nestled into hers, their bodies melded together.
She opened her eyes and turned to face Nick. "Good
morning!" She kissed his lips and snuggled into his
chest. "Morning." Nick mumbled. "What's the matter,
you sound troubled by something?" She lifted her face
up to his and he brushed her check softly again. "I
just..." He shook his head and sat up. "What Nick?"
Kathy sat up beside him and hugged him to her. "I
want to see you! This isn't fair!" Tears spilled
down his cheeks. "I love you and I want to see you!"
Kathy knew he was just feeling sorry for himself
momentarily, but she let him get it out. It was bound to happen eventually. "Is it that
important, what I look like?" she asked softly.
"Well, no, but..." "If you could see tomorrow and I
was ugly to you, would you still love me?" "That's
not fair!" Nick protested. "I just want to see how
beautiful you are. You are so special to me." Kathy smiled and moved around to
face him. "Am I beautiful to you, right now?" She
took his hands in hers. "Yes, you are." "That's
because you can feel my heart and know how much I care
for you. That will never change Nick, my looks will."
"I know." "I understand what you mean though. It's
frustrating..." Kathy's voice trailed off. "I love
you." Nick murmured, taking his hands and pulling her
close to him. "Even though I hate what happened to
me, it brought you to me." "God works in strange
ways." Kathy whispered. "I know." Nick laid her
down and lowered himself on top of her. "Can I make
love to you?" "My pleasure." Kathy reached over and
pulled the sheets over top of them both.
"Man, where were you guys all morning? We've been calling nonstop and getting the answering machine!" Brian exclaimed, as the group gathered around Nick's dining table for a late lunch. "We were here." Kathy giggled and entered the kitchen. "So why didn't you answer the phone?" Brian persisted. "They finally got it on!" Rho yelled triumphantly. AJ and Kevin snickered as she jumped up to join Kathy in the kitchen. "You got it on, hey little bro?" Kevin laughed as Nick's face turned bright red. "Giving it to the gorgeous private nurse, it's like one of the movies from my special collection." AJ tipped back his chair and sighed. "Did she wear her uniform?" "It was not like that!" Nick corrected. "I really do love her." "Are you saying there is no love in the movies I watch?" AJ asked, feigning hurt. "Not hardly!" "Okay boys." Kevin stopped the beginning argument. "Nick, I'm glad you found someone that cares for you, like Kathy. You deserve it." Nick smiled and rested his head atop his folded arms. "What does she look like guys, really?" "Whoa man, she is one hot nurse!" AJ laughed. "He said honestly!" Howie, punched AJ in the arm. "Nick, you can trust me, right?" Brian reached over to touch Nick's arm. "Yes." "She's very pretty, Nick. Her hair is light brown and reaches her shoulders. Her eyes are green and she wears glasses, you know that. She's got a heart-shaped face. She's about 5'5", 5'6". You know her body shape." The group laughed at that statement. "Any thing else you want to know?" Nick thought for a moment. "Does she look like anybody in particular? You know, just to give me some idea of what she looks like." Howie put his arm around Nick's shoulders. "A little bit like Leigh in the "As Long as you Love me" video, when she wore the glasses, remember? But not really, Kathy's got her own look." "Kevin?" Nick relied on Kevin for the last word. "She's beautiful man, naturally pretty and I would not lie to you about that. There is one thing you should know though." "What?" "Everytime you two are in the room together, she barely takes her eyes off you. She's got it bad for you!" Nick smiled in relief. "It's the Carter charm, what can I say?" "So you finally did it!" Rho leaned against the counter and grinned like a cheshire cat. "Yes we did, last night and this morning, and this morning again." Kathy smiled at the memory. "Wow, I'm impressed! Go on!" "I am not going to tell you all about my love life!" Kathy pretended to look shocked at her friend's straight forwardness. "I will tell you he is so wonderful and kind. Do you know he actually asked if he could, he didn't just go ahead and do it?" "Probably because that bitch of an ex-girlfriend only let him screw her when she wanted it." Rho fumed. "Well she's gone now." Kathy piled the sandwiches on the platter. "Do you think this is enough? Nick hasn't eaten all day." "Well in that case, you should make another platter!" Rho laughed as Kathy tried to jab her in the ribs. "What are you trying to say about my boyfriend?" "Nothing! He's just got a healthy appetite!" Rho collapsed in giggles. "And I like him that way!" Kathy playfully stuck her nose in the air and left the kitchen. "Here you go,guys, lunch is served!" Nick grabbed a sandwich for each hand. "I'm starving! I hope you have more!" "So rehearsals start tomorrow." Nick asked hesitantly. The group had finished lunch and gathered around the living room. "Yup, I gave Kathy all the details so she can get you there." Kevin confirmed. "You'll be fine." Brian assured him. "You know Fatima won't make you do anything you aren't comfortable with." Howie grinned at AJ. They all knew Fatima would push and push until Nick was in top form again. "I'm just so worried about it. I can't dance on stage. What if I fall?" "Let Fatima show you tomorrow, okay?" AJ patted him on the shoulder. "I gotta go, Lex and I are going out for dinner tonight. Can't upset the good doctor!" "We should go too." Kevin stood up. "Thanks for lunch Kathy,it was delicious!" Howie hugged her. Take good care of our boy, alright?" "I will." Kathy assured him. "I'm pretty fond of him now!" "Don't tire him out before tomorrow!" AJ teased as Brian shoved him out the door.
