"Rae-Rae will you race me."
"Sure. Nick tell us when to go."
"On your marks, get set,Go!" He shouted from the other side of the pool. Jackson swam well for a three and a half year old. I could tell he loved the water as much as his dad.
"I won! I won!" He shouted.
"You are to good for me honey." I got out of the pool and sat down on a towel in the grass.
"Hey Rachel. It's great to see you!" Kevin sat down beside me.
"Thanks. I'm glad to see you. Where's your wife?"
"Monica's at work. She's a nurse at the hospital."
"Cool. I can't wait to meet her."
"How's things with Nick?"
"Last night was hard. Jackson was at Nick's parents house. I mean I haven't seen him in four years."
"Wow. I hope everything works out. He really cares about you. He almost left Torri a few times before they got married."
"Why? What are you talking about?" I asked in confusion. Nick never mentioned this to me. Even Brian never said anything.
"Nick was in love with you. Since he met you in Jamaica, he was in love with you. He talked about you more than Torri. Nick wanted to leave her, but he never did. I don't know why."
"That's funny coming from you. I remember when you hated me." I laughed.
"I'm sorry for that. I was wrapped in Torri's spell." "It's ok. I just don't understand all of this. I mean Nick couldn't have been in love with me. I know he had a crush on me in Jamaica, but he loved Torri.
"Sweetheart, the close you two became the more he fell in love with you. I saw it with my own eyes."
"Then why did he marry her?" I started to cry.
"I don't know. I'm sorry I brought this whole thing up. Please don't cry." Kevin hugged me. It hurt so bad. I loved Nick more than anything. It was a secret I would keep until the end of time. What Kevin told me only made me love Nick more.
"Kev, I'm ok." Jackson and Nick sat down with us.
"Hey Jacks. What's up Nick?"
"Uncle Kev. Daddy is going to take me on the boat tomorrow."
"That sounds like a lot of fun."
"Rachel what's wrong? You look like you've been crying." Nick was concerned about her.
"I'm fine. I think I'm going inside. I'll start dinner." I didn't even look at Nick. I got up and walked into the house.
"Kev what's wrong with Rachel. I know this situation is hard on her. I asked if we could work things out."
"Nick, you are probably going to get mad at me, but I told Rachel that you are in love with her."
"You did what? How dare you Kevin. I thought you were my friend." Jackson was playing with the dogs, so he didn't hear the conversation.
"I said that you used to be in love with her. She was shocked. I am not sure she believed me.
"Kevin, I never stopped loving her. When I first saw her in Ruskin, I knew she was the one. I am trying to get her to love me back, and you just ruined it."
"I don't think so. Brian said that she still cares about you. She always asks about you. Rachel has that sparkle in her eye, anytime you're mentioned. Why do you think she took the job?
"Because of Jackson. She already told me that." He told Kevin. Did she really love me? Nick was so confused. He didn't know what to do. He decided he would make Rachel love him.
