Chapter 5

"Daddy, I'm home!" Jackson screamed as he ran in the house. Jane followed behind him.

"Hey Jackson. I missed you so much." Nick hugged his son.

"I missed you too, daddy, but i was only at Gram's house. Can I go play?"

"Sure." Jackson ran off to his room.

"Did you find a nanny yet?"

"Yeah mom, I did. She is starting today. Actually she moved in last night."

"Wow. Where is she now?"

"She went to the store."

I rang the door bell because my hand were fully of groceries. I heard Nick walk to the door. It seemed like he was taking forever, but it was about ten seconds. Once he opened the door, I put two bags into his arms. I picked up the other three bags and walked into the house. I didn't see Jane until she started to talk to me. "Hello Rachel. It's great to see you. I didn't know you were visiting."

"Didn't Nick tell you. I'm not visiting, I'm the nanny." I gave her a puzzled look.

"No he never mentioned that . I trust you with my grandson."

"Thanks." I felt a cool breeze as the kitchen door swung back and forth. Jackson jumped into Nick's arms.

"Hey buddy. Are you done playing?"

"Yeah. Hi foxy mama. Whatcha doin' here?" I smiled. Nick turned a bright shade of red.

"Jackson, I told you not to say that. It isn't polite. Rachel is going to help me take care of you."

"Cool. Rae-Rae will you go swimming with me?" He grinned at me.

"Sure honey. First we will eat lunch and take the dogs for a walk. Is that ok with you?"

"Sure."

"Cool. You can go play while I make lunch." Jackson ran out of the kitchen. "What do you want for lunch Nick? Jane are you staying for lunch?"

"Sure I'll stay for lunch."

"Make Jackson a peanut butter and banana sandwich. Also give him apple slices and grapes. You can make the rest of us chicken salad sandwiches and pasta salad. I made them fresh this morning."

"Wow Nick, I never knew you could cook." I smiled at him.

"Ha Ha! I am going to see what Jackson is up to." Jane followed her son into the living room.

"Can I talk to you Nickolas?"

"Sure mom. I know this is serious, you called me Nickolas."

"You know that I think very highly of Rachel. Are you sure this is going to work out? I know that you have feelings for her."

"Mom I don't have those feelings for her. I did at one time, and she knew that. I care for her deeply, but not in that way. Everything is going to work out fine."

"What about her? How does she feel?" Jane worried about her son. She didn't want to see him get hurt.

"Mom, I know she doesn't feel that way about me. She told me that last night. I hurt her. She is only here to help Jackson."

"Rachel is a great friend. You're lucky to have her around."

"I know."
