Chapter 1

Walking through town, I heard my name being called. I found this strange because I had recently moved to Rusking. I turned around to look for the voice that called out my name. When I saw who it was I almost fainted.

"Rachel what are you doing here?"

"Well Nick, it's nice to see you, too." I remarked rudely.

"I'm just surprized to see you. It's been so long." He smiled at me. His blue eyes were making me melt into the ground. Then I remembered why I was angry.

"It hasn't been long enough. Yeah, you stopped writing and calling about four years ago."

"Look Rachel, I'm sorry...things happened."

"I know Nick. That's when you got married to Ice Princess." I stated rudely.

"Yeah, well you can see how long that marriage lasted." He looked sad. I felt sorry for him.

"Well that doesn't change the fact that you stopped writing and calling."

"I know that Rachey. I needed you so many times during those four years, but I was afraid."

"Afraid of what?"

"Afraid to call or write."

"Why?"

"I was afraid you wouldn't respond."

"You know you could have came to me. I was there everytime she shattered you heart before you got married."

"Hi Rae. What are you doing here?" Brian walked over to us, with Nick's son Jackson.

"Brian it's great to see you. I just moved here last week." I hugged him.

"Who are you lady?" Jackson pulled on my shorts.

"Jackson that wasn't polite." Nick said in a fatherly tone.

"Don't worry Jackson. My name is Rachel. I'm a friend and your dad and Brian."

"You're pretty Rae-Rae. My daddy thinks you're a foxy mama." Nick turned as red as a tomato. I smiled at Jackson, he was a cute kid. Brian was smiling.

"Well I better get going. It was nice meeting you Jackson. See you guys later."

"Bye." Brian and Jackson called out. Nick stood there still looking embarassed.

Nick couldn't believe Rachel was back in his life. Well technically she wasn't in his life, but at least he got to talk to her. She was beautiful. She grew up in those four years, when he lost contact. Her hair was curly and a nice auburn color. She thinned out some, but still had the curves he loved.

"Daddy can we get some ice cream?"

"Sure, let's go home. We have your favorite ice cream at home."

"It was nice seeing Rae. She hasn't changed since the last time I saw her."

"When was that?" Nick was angry at Brian for not telling him that he saw Rachel.

"It was about three months ago at the airport in Pittsburgh. You were on the phone with Torri. She was sitting wait for her flight.

"Did you talk to her?"

"Of course. She had a three hour layover and we had to wait four hous, so we went to dinner."

"I remember now. That's when you disappeared and wouldn't tell me anything."

"Sorry Nick. She told me not to say anything. She was very upset with what happened. I can't blame her. You hurt her."

"Don't you think I know that Bri. I regret doing it to her. I thought Torri was the one. She made me do it." Nick cried.

"No one can make you do anything you don't want to do man."

"Can we drop it?"

I was mad at myself. Why did I let Nick get to me like that? It isn't like we were ever boyfriend and girlfriend. We were just friends. I should have understood that he would choose her over me.

He looked so handsome. In four years he became a man. He was muscular and well built. His tan skin and blond hair made him irristable. Not to mention those blue eyes that could drown you with a glance.

"What was I thinking? I didn't want to have anything to do with Nick. I would avoid him at all costs.
