Alaina found herself suddenly contemplating the wisdom of her decision to get a room with this man she had just met, inspite of the fact that he was very handsome, and seemed to be harmless. She didn't know what he was, only that he was not human and that he was not one of her kind, and it was the fact that she did not know what he was that made her very uncomfortable.

She went back and forth for a moment about whether or not she should bring up the subject, when he brought it up for her.

"Something is bothering you, isn't it?" The man asked her evenly. It was as if he had read her mind.

"Your not mortal." She said matter of factly.

"Neither are you." He said.

"How do you know?" She asked.

He tapped his forhead in a gesture showing he could ready her mind.

"What are you?" She asked.

"I am a vampire." He said.

She shrank back in fear.

"Don't worry. Your have nothing to fear from me." He said. "Your kind offers as much sustenance to me as a glass of bloody water. And I have no interest in making your pretty head fall off those shoulders.

"Then why did you bring me here?" She asked.

"I wanted your company dear lady and nothing more." He said.
