Alaina Macian had changed much since she was carried away from the burning flames of the chieftan's home 1,200 years ago. Her home, the city of Glencoe had been merely a village then, and now it was one of the most magnificant cities in Scotland.
She had lived her entire life in secrecy and obscurity, never allowing herself the luxury of love.
When she felt an irresitable pull towards a faraway land to fight for the prize, like others of her kind, she was unable to ignore it. So, for some God unknown reason, Alaina MacIan of Glencoe was heading towards New York to the place of the Gathering.
She took the midnight train going anywhere, because that was better than sitting around waiting for New York to come to her.
A dark haired stranger caught her attention as he boarded the train.
"Is this seat taken?"  He asked.
"Not at all." She said with a smile that he reciprocated.
"I am Alaina." She said as she smiled seductively.
"Nice to meet you." He said warmly.
Alaina did not pay to much heed to the fact that he did not offer to shake hands, or tell her his name. They were in New York after all, and pleasantries were not something New Yorkers were famous for.
They chatted for a few hours until they had nearly reached their destination.
