What do I think of writing?

Writing is a strange thing.  When wielded affectively it can lift a person’s spirits, plunge them into despair, transport them to other times and places and even let someone be someone or thing they are not.

I enjoy reading someone else’s writing as long as it is interesting, but my own writing is not very good.  I lack talent and patience.  Patience is probably the most important requirement.  Writing is necessary for direct passing of an idea without the idea being changed with each new telling.  It doesn’t change by itself.

What do I want to get out of this class?

I want to develop new skills or at least improve the ones I already possess to get better at writing.  Writing is important and I don’t want to be left sounding like an idiot just because I have to put something down on paper.

My planned major is elementary education.  I am a North Carolina Teaching Fellows at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.  This year I am a freshman and having so much fun.
