Day Three: August 30, 2000
After a good night's sleep, I left Kingston and began what would be the longest leg of the trip. About 180 km of primarily flat, straight roads. It would prove to be quite mind-numbing. The scenery was beautiful, but it was just too long of a day for me. To make matters worse, I had hurt BOTH my knees in Kingston, one getting in the previous evening, and one climbing the hill away from town (by RMC) the next morning. Ah well. Things were half over, and despite the pain, i felt pretty confident that with determination and some help from God, I was going to make it! Anyhow, the first picture for today is from the Thousand Islands Parkway, looking at the Bridge to the USA near Gananoque. Nice view, but a little hazy in the photo.
This is a view across the St-Lawrence, looking at the US. I don't remember which ugly NY State town that is, but who really cares? Notice the Canadians walking their dogs right near the water on this side.
Behind me there is actually an Old Fort from the War of 1812 on a hill.
Well, here is (hopefully) the worst picture of me in existence. I'm sitting on my bed at my Bed and Breakfast (The Nightingale House, in Ingleside, Ont.). Mr. and Mrs. O'Gorman were very nice, and they had a wonderul pool, which is something I should probably have looked into when selecting the other B+B's! This is the only time on the trip where I bothered to set up the tripod and timer on my camera. I really wish I'd done it a few other times. I'm sure I could have gotten better shots than this! I obviously took a lot less photos on day three than on day two. Note the tan line just above my elbow. There is an identical one at my wrist, owing to my biking gloves!
Onto day 4!
