Follow up Pt.2

After the retraction by Filer of the North Carolina hoaxed report I happened across this news article in CNN archives quite by accident. Almost a case of "divine intervention" aye? Ed. nib68

DURHAM, N.C. - A Durham man who investigates out-of-this-world sightings is moving out of North Carolina in part because there's been so little UFO activity in the state.
Berne Bennett, who recently retired as a chemist at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency at Research Triangle Park, is moving soon to Florida's Gulf Coast.
Bennett - an official field investigator for the Mutual UFO Network - is looking forward to Florida, where he can expand his gardening hobby to include tropical plants. He also possibly could investigate more sightings - Florida's Gulf Coast has experienced an extraordinary level of unidentified flying object activity in recent years, a network official says.
Bennett says he has little to investigate in the Raleigh-Durham area.
``It's been pretty dead,'' said Bennett, 67. ``It's really been disappointing not having anything to investigate.''
MUFON, which claims 4,000 members in 50 states and about 75 countries, sees its role as a sober, fact-based exploration of UFO phenomena.
North Carolina is among the top states for MUFON membership, with about 80 members. Most are spread along the Interstate 85 corridor from Charlotte to Durham, said George Lund, MUFON's state director.
Only in the past eight months has Bennett been mobilized by MUFON state headquarters in Charlotte for an investigation. The first, in Durham County near Bahama, appeared to have been a meteorite, he said. The second report was different.
Three preteen girls at a sleepover Feb. 19 near Chapel Hill, N.C., reported seeing a large triangular object descending and, later, three small humanoids

Bennett has never seen a UFO, but he could see them along Florida's Gulf Coast, according to Walter Andrus, MUFON's founder and director,
``It's the only real hot spot in the world,'' Andrus said in a telephone interview. ``Sometimes there are reports every day. You can go there with the intent of filming them and actually do it. Of course, I've been there four times now, and I haven't seen anything.''
