31 December 1998: Global Citizens Network sends small teams of volunteers to rural communities around the world to immerse themselves in the daily life of the local culture for several weeks.

The teams work on community projects initiated by the local people, such as planting trees, digging irrigation trenches, setting up a schoolroom or teaching commercial skills.

There are currently trips planned to Belize, Kenya, Bolivia, Guatemala, Navajo Nation (New Mexico), and St. Vincent.

I want to learn to make myself useful to people who are improving the Internet and putting it to good use. As part of this, I'm wondering how to make the best of my association with GeoCities.

Some examples of what I call putting the Internet to good use:

  • Helping the children of the world get to know each other and support each other's projects.
  • Helping children get involved in community projects.
  • Information, exchange, and resource centers for community projects involving people from different parts of the world and different parts of society.

Some examples of how I might be useful:

  • Working on Web pages to make them more accessible, manageable, and friendly.
  • Searching for and organizing information and resources for various projects.
  • Informing people about projects.
  • Helping with studies in economics and environment, especially water resources.

One of my projects is to find one classroom on the Web in every country of the world, starting with one in every continent.

To begin with, here is the Panorama School in Greece.

You can write to me at [email protected].
