I..met
my husband, Dave, at Cornell. We married in July '63 and spent two
years in Charlottesvile, VA while he attended law school and I worked in
research at the U Va Medical School. We then moved to Portland, OR, his
home. I have loved living in the NW for almost 40 years, except for being
so far from family and some old friends. I continued my career as a Research
Associate in Infectious Diseases and Molecular Biology at Oregon Health
Sciences University for almost 30 years.
Dave retired two years ago ( he practiced labor law for 20 yrs. then
was VP of Human Resources/Labor Relations at Willamette Industries, a forest
products company) and we are now splitting our year equally between Oregon
and Tucson, AZ.
[As of May '04]
We have two sons, Bryce (35) and Cam (34). They are both married, and each
has a son, 9 months and 18 months respectively. Cam is a network consultant
in Portland and Bryce is a graphic designer in Tucson, AZ so we are enjoying
having part of the year with each little family and are loving being grandparents!
Because we had sons and Dave has a myriad of interests, I have amazed
myself by learning to play golf, tennis, ski, run, sail, hike, backpack
and long-distance bicycle (never having done ANYTHING athletic in NY !).
However, my favorite hobby is gardening. Dave and I love to travel and
have been lucky to have seen quite a bit of the world as well as having
lived in the SW of France for several months, in both ‘83 and’02. Last
summer, we bought a 47’ trawler and are enjoying cruising during the summer
from Olympia, WA to northern British Columbia. Next year we hope to do
the Inside Passage to Alaska.
I have been fortunate to have kept in touch with several classmates
over all these years, including Carole Ferguson Schneider, Mitzi Single
Nelsen, Pete Johnson, Janet Chaize Kopac, Alice Malinkowski Herrall....and
more recently Dennis Prindle, Garret Church and Herb Swain. I am very much
looking forward to seeing many more old friends in June!
