Remembering Sam

Sam Alimentato
10/28/84 - 12/22/00

Our friend Sam went to heaven after a 13 month battle with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I never had the pleasure of meeting him personally but his mother and I became friends through an online support group and we shared our experiences of our childrens' battles with cancer. I came to know him and care very much for him, his mom, dad, brother and sister. At that time Sam was just getting ready to undergo his 2nd bone marrow transplant. He did very well and was able to return home in October 2000 and seemed to be doing fine. Shortly after that the doctors found the cancer was back and very aggressive. My heart is saddened by the loss of such a special person at such a young age. Visit his family's website at:

Remembering Yossi

Yossi Chaim's (z"l)
04/19/88 - 03/10/01

Yossi was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on September 20, 1997. After battling cancer for over 3 years he was in the hospital for his 2nd bone marrow transplant and experienced complications. His body had just been through too much. His life and struggle with this childhood killer has been an inspiration to many people across the nation. His parents and family have been through so much and even with that, his mother is currently getting ready to meet with congressmen regarding funding for childhood cancer research. Leah and Michoel have documented their journey through diagnosis, treatment, and grief so incredibly. Meet them at:
