In May 2003 I went on a trip to the Berkshires during which I got three New York counties on the Mass-NY border. After that trip I discovered that most of the New York counties that adjoin the New England states have interesting highpoints, and hope to do most of them in a few multiday trips.

Early in the summer of 2004 I was planning my second trip, to the Adirondacks this time, to climb Mount Marcy (the state highpoint) as well as a few nearby counties. I ended up doing Mount Marcy on a beautiful day, as well as Black Mountain and Lyon Mountain.
