Six Weeks # 5
Science Notes
The science curriculum is set up a little different than the other subjects being taught this year.

During the first six weeks students worked in their homeroom to learn basic concepts of science (tools, scientific method, measurement).

Starting with the second six weeks, they will rotate to three different teachers over the course of the next 18 weeks.

Ms. Mantooth is teaching Life Science, Ms. Summers is teaching Physical Science, and I am teaching Earth Science.

Each class will start with their homeroom teacher and rotate counterclockwise to the other two teachers. For example, my homeroom students will be learning Earth Science with me during the second six weeks. They will get Physical Science from Ms. Summers during the third six weeks, and Life Science from Ms. Mantooth during the fourth six weeks.

Science time during the fifth six weeks will be devoted to extra practice and review in preparation for the CRCT test.
Six Weeks # 6
During the final six weeks we will be using our science time for a variety of activities (mostly art and current events).
Six Weeks # 2, 3, and 4
During our Earth Science unit we will learn about earthquakes and volcanoes. We will discuss the rock cycle, and how rocks are weathered (broken up), eroded (carried away), and deposited (deposition) in a new place. We will also discuss glaciers, mass movement, plate tectonics, landforms, and parts of the Earth's interior.
