Now that the Playstation 2 specs are out, all of a sudden everyone who was drooling over the Dreamcast has already written it off as a dead system before it has even hit the shelves overhere in the States. What's the deal with this? First of all the Dreamcast is slated for release over here on 9/9/'99, this is almost 6 full months before the PSX2 is supposed to come out on the shelves over here. That gives it more than enough time to win over gamers. Does anyone honestly believe that the Dreamcast is going to die? Look at the software makers that are supporting the DC: SNK, Capcom, and yes.. believe it or not Namco. (along with many others of course) Plus a heavy-duty rumor that is floating around is that Nintendo might even help out Sega and start making software titles for the Dreamcast. I wouldn't hold my breath on that, but that might help generate some revenue. Remember the Saturn? (If you say no, please run into traffic.. The Saturn was a great system and still is.) The Saturn was HUGE overseas, whereas the Nintendo 64 wasn't very good at all and it was the reverse over here in the States. If the two didhelp each other out, it could mean good things for both companies.

The DC is slated to be a great system overall, and great systems never die. Look at the Super Nintendo. That was a great system, and I still play many of the games I have for it? Why? Well here is point #2.

Games are supposed to be fun, and that is exactly what most games for that system are, and beyond that many of those games are classics. Ask Mr. Dawg here what his Favorite Final Fantasy is? Even with it'sgreat graphics, it's surely not 7. It's FF3 for the SNES. How is this possible you say? People put way too much emphasis on games with great graphics and crappy gameplay. I would rather play a game that maybe wasn't the best eye-candy but was fun. What's my favorite hockey game? Well to be honest it's NHL Faceoff '97 (incredibly fluid gameplay with good graphics) , and Ice Hockey (for the orignal NES) coming a close second. Why? because it's great fun to play and I tend to laugh my a$$ off while playing it. You know what are the 2 most played systems in my household? (For the record: I own an NES, SNES, Saturn and PSX .. I used to own a N64 but it was effecient only as a doorstop!) The 2 most played are the Saturn and the SNES? Why? Fun. Classic games. I'm just old skewl baybee!

So here is to all you people out there that believe the Dreamcast is dead before it's even released.
