Frequent Questions about Training
Q:  My son has been doing some individual training for about 2 years, and it seems to have helped.  However, he has complained that they do the same drills over and over, and that it has gotten boring and not much action.  What does Next Level Basketball offer that might be of value to him?

A:  As a trainer, I have done a lot of "individual training" too.  I like to judge everything into three catogories : "GOOD, BETTER or BEST ", when it comes to training.  Individual training is GOOD, especially when a child is young and just learning basic fundementals.   Our program takes those basics and builds more and more advanced parts of the game, blending individual skills within the teamwork concepts.  We train players in small controlled groups, usually 8-12 players per coach, so everyone gets individual training within the team concepts.
I have experienced the same things as your son, it does get boring and slow for the coach and the player and it is very limited toward team play.
Think of it like music lessons.  Private lessons are good for the basics, but then it's time to be in the band!  Everything we do at Next Level is in the BETTER to BEST range!  Individual training is more suited for sports like golf, tennis, boxing, martial arts, gymnastics, etc...

Q:  My daughter has been playing AAU Basketball for 3 years now, and is a fairly good player.  We were told that a lot of college scouts and coaches attend AAU games, but our daughter doesn't get much playing time and the team hasn't gone to the National tournament in several years.  She plays varsity basketball at her school, but does not start.  AAU has been disappointing and deceptive to us, and  takes up a lot of time during our summers, practicing during the week plus playing every weekend, and it's getting to be too much for us. We've heard great things about Next Level, but we're not sure what to do, can you help us decide?
A: That's a tough question, however, as a former AAU coach, I think I can help.  Yes, college coaches and scouts are at AAU tournaments, usually the National tournament.  Truthfully, they are usually interested in the "elite" players, the one's dominating in High School and AAU basketball.  Most college players are recruited on their High School statistics anyway, so you need to weigh the pros and cons of AAU, and if you choose to train with us we will definitely prepare her for High School basketball!
