Judo and other Martial Arts
Judo is an ideal compliment for those who study other martial arts, particularly those which rely upon punches and kicks. Judo can provide the training and skills, in throws and grappling techniques, which may be limited or non- existent in other martial arts. Students of Karate, Kung Fu, Ju-Jitsu, Aikido and even boxing and wrestling have found Judo to be a rewarding compliment to their present skills.

Judo as Self-Defense
Judo is for ideal for self-defense because it utilizes an attackers own power against him to throw him to the ground. The attacker can then be easily immobilized with any number of grabbling techniques or chokes. Since Judo does not utilize any punches or kicks, nor any potentially lethal techniques, it is ideal given today’s legal environment which may actually punish a person who is injuring an attacker. In real life situations, most “fights? ends up with both people wrestling on the ground in a few minutes. Judo, with its grabbling techniques, is thus ideal in such situations, and its throws enable a person to get an attacker to the ground first – in a far more favorable and advantageous position.
